| | The Bard's Tale Review WorthPlaying has dished up a review of The Bard's Tale, giving inXile Entertainment's action RPG an overall score of 7.9/10. Their conclusion: Overall, The Bard's Tale is wonderful. Although it does lack in a few areas, the game's memorable characters and terrific sense of humor more than make up for any of these weaknesses. It is so refreshing to see a title that doesn't take itself too seriously and developers who are comfortable enough to use comedy as a key element in their design. The game has solid, if somewhat simplified, gameplay, good visuals, and great audio. As I said, I don't fully remember the first Bard's Tale, but I can imagine that this version is a worthy successor. Fans of classic RPG games (those who will "get" the jokes) should definitely take a look. |

| | | Apparently the reviewer loved the humorous writing, but didn't feel it necessary to tell us whether combat is realtime or pause-able; whether you can add characters to your party; how linear the game was; whether it supports multiple simultaneous quests, and if so, how many at once; what kinds of skills in detail are available; and whether the environment is strongly interactive.

| | | Well, he does actually talk about being able to use support characters. Though, he doesn't really describe how that works. I guess he was relying on people to read one of the other myriad of reviews on this seemingly mediocre game.
Is it just me or does the inventory/loot acquisition in this game just seem like a horrible idea? |

It gives the impression that weapons are simply rated by one number, whatever it may be, so a "4" weapon is better than a "3"--and the "3" vanishes from your inventory. Otherwise, I would expect to find weapons that do different kinds of auxillary damage, with different rates of attack, etc.
