Post Take-Two Talks BioShock MMO

Shacknews reports that Take-Two chairman Strauss Zelnick spoke of BioShock's potential at the 2008 Smid Cap Conference.
Speaking at the 2008 Smid Cap Conference, Take-Two chairman Strauss Zelnick mentioned massively multiplayer online editions of BioShock and Civilization as examples of the company's "potential untapped opportunities."

Following the release and strong sales performance of 2K Boston and 2K Australia's story-driven underwater shooter BioShock (PC, X360) last summer, Zelnick noted Take-Two's intent to transform BioShock into an ongoing franchise.

Am I the only one who feels BioShock is one of those titles that's best left as a stand-alone?

Neither its story nor its setting really cry for sequel, this isn't Avernum or Fallout we're talking about here. It said all it wanted to say in one game.

But that's corporatism for you.

Playing in a claustrophobic environment? How is that a good for an MMO? A Civilisation MMO? Sounds completely preposterous.

Why is it that almost every publisher want to sign contracts for a film adaptation of their hit titles?
