Obsidian Entertainment PR representative Brandon Smith sent us over an email confirming that Neverwinter Nights 2 has been delayed until October 20th. Here's the official word:
“Given the sheer size and scope of Neverwinter Nights 2 and its 50 to 60-hour single player campaign, it was decided to move the global release date of Neverwinter Nights 2 out a month to late October. This extra time is invaluable as it allows fine tuning and polishing of both the single and multiplayer experiences to ultimately deliver a game that exceeds the tremendous expectations of the Neverwinter Nights fanbase.”

It's unfortunate that we won't be seeing the game in September as originally planned, but hopefully this will give the team enough time to make sure the game is a polished product at release.

That was unexpected. A while back, I saw the E3 gameplay demo of the game back at Gamespot and I thought that it will be able to meet its September release date. Pity its pushed back. Oh well, they have a good reason to do so and I hope that their decision pays off.

50 to 60 hours? Woah. Now that's going to be one heck of a long game to complete.

On the one hand, the very idea that the game is 50-60 hours long fills me with joy. (I hate these modern games that you can finish in two days without a sweat *cough* fable *cough*)

On the other hand, "Long awaited and much hyped sequel" + "Delays in release" are usually bad signs. then again, Oblivion was delayed for half a year and it still rocked, so maybe I'm being over anxious.
