Post Mass Effect Reviews

The weekend brings us three more enthusiastic reviews of BioWare's sci-fi RPG, Mass Effect. The first is at The Armchair Empire with an overall score of 9.0/10:
In spite of its issues, Mass Effect is still a completely entrancing blend of two completely different genres, the likes of which we really haven't seen on the consoles since Deus Ex. Mass Effect doesn't quite pull it off cohesively, but it's still a fantastic experience. It's almost definitely going to be turned into a franchise at this point. Here's hoping for a quality sequel.

The second is at Frictionless Insight with a perfect score of 5/5:
A five-star rating may be the top score on this site, but it doesn't necessitate a perfect game. FI's review criteria emphasize value, and Mass Effect brings a tremendous amount of play to the table. When you combine that with superior story-telling, there are so many great experiences that the game's few flaws are inconsequential when held against the magnum opus that is Mass Effect.

And the third is at DeadAlfs with an overall score of 85%:
There are some technical issues which possibly highlight the limitations of the host hardware. Some unattractive texture pop-up is a possible concession to load-times, as are some inexplicably long lift rides. There were also some instances where my avatar performed some truly freakish twiches whilst stuck on scenery. However, none of this will matter to those who allow themselves to be thoroughly absorbed in what's set to be an epic space saga in the making.

If you're a Halo fan looking to finish another fight, then you're probably best-off staying in the multiplayer arena for now. If you're a fan of Bioware games or RPGs in general however, you'll be well catered for here.

Hmm, there seems to be no shortage of game reviews and reviewers for that matter...
