X-Play has uploaded a new video interview with Todd Howard, "the mastermind behind The Elder Scrolls and Fallout series." They discuss moving from TES to Fallout 3, fans, what defines Fallout, and more.

I've been left with the impression lately that Bethsoft doesn't expect players to ever finish more than a single complete run-through of their games. While that's in my case spot on for Morrowind and Oblivion, I didn't think it was such a concious choice of design on Bethsoft's behalf. Since Todd makes it clear no quest arc will come at the sacrifice of another, Bethsoft's Fallout will have to be more of the same in that regard.

There are still other things they could get right, things like immersion and presentation (as Ben Croshaw so keenly pointed out), but I'm not sure if I should be holding my breath for them. Probably not at this point.
