Bethesda's Point Lookout DLC for Fallout 3 is the subject of yet another set of very enthusiastic reviews.

First up is The Adrenaline Vault with a perfect score of 5/5:

Overall, Point Lookout is a great piece of DLC. It really delivers on the exploration; I almost felt like I was playing an Elder Scrolls game. There are multiple side quests, ranging from traveling the map in search of a secret spy bunker to making moonshine. If you have spent hours exploring the Wasteland, then this is a no-brainer. If you haven’t, what are you waiting for?

The second is at Spike with no score:

Point Lookout adds miles of new territory to Fallout 3, with a sense of freedom that matches the core game better than any of the previous chapters. The quality of Fallout 3's DLC has been on an upward climb, and Point Lookout edges past Broken Steel as the best addition yet.

The third is at MyGamer with no score:

Even though there are not any cool new weapons/armor to get excited about, Point Lookout is the next best DLC after Broken Steel. If you are still working your way up to level 30 and want to experience something new, this $10 download is worthy of a purchase. It also should be noted that it is not as buggy and is a lot more stable than The Pitt. One thing I would have liked to see, however, is some new character animations. Every character in the game animates the exact same way during conversations and they are really starting to show their age.

While the “Broken Steel” expansion may have reopened the game world, and had its fair share of huge action set pieces, “Point Lookout” really stands out as the best in the series so far. The new area is a new world unto itself, and I would love to see Bethesda move further south in future installments if only to add more variation to the locales we’re allowed to visit. For the amount of time you’ll spend playing this DLC, and for how cheap it is, you’d have a pretty tough time finding a better investment of your gaming time. It’s going to be pretty tough for the next installment, “Mothership Zeta,” to live up to this one, but I can’t wait to see what Bethesda does next.
