Post Fallout 3 Demo Not Possible

Eurogamer talked to Pete Hines, who affirmed what everyone assumed; Fallout 3 will not have a demo. It is, and I quote, "impossible".
"When you build it as one thing, there's no way to portion off a section and have it stand on its own without putting the whole game in the demo, which we're just not going to do," said Hines.

"And it doesn't really capture the fun of a game like an Elder Scrolls or a Fallout, where you can go where you want and do what you want. So no demo, sorry."
Yeah, about that, I'm pretty sure Fallout 1 had a demo, and that it worked perfectly well in giving a good idea of what the game was.

Which is why they had a press demo?

Maybe there were no more bombs in Megaton to blow up...
The Fallout demo is even downloadable from GB.

Since Bethseda never released a demo for any of their games, I'm not surprised at this development.

I'm not sure about Arena, but Daggerfall definitely had a demo. Well, it's part of their design philosophy now. The game doesn't match the image their PR department tries to project, so giving the gamer audience a possibility to give it a try could turn away too many potential customers.

.. but it's okay to waste the press' time with a demo that isn't at all representative of the game..
