Post Fable II Main Quest Only 12 Hours Long

Joystiq brings word from Fable II's developers that the game's main quest is only 12 hours long, but a lot of this is made up by side-quests.
We had a lot of fun playing Fable 2 last night (more on that in a bit), so we were disappointed when we heard from several Lionhead staffers that the game's main story would take most around 12 hours to complete. It's not that we thought we were getting ripped off, after last night we just hoping the answer would be a little closer to a hojillion.

Also, keep in mind: That's just for the main story. That's not figuring in the time you'll spend gambling, romancing, trying to get fat and all the other side quests that make Fable so Fabley.

Well, Fable isn't that much about the main story so it's not that big of a loss. Hopefully they have packed the game with many sidequests and random events. I'm not that much of a fan conserning imitation of real life so I can't play Fable the way it's ment to be played.

Meh, hours doesn't depict quality. If a game has 10 hours of gameplay through the main quest but is ungodly well written and well played, then I'd much prefer that than mediocre gameplay in a 50 to 100 hour game.

Agreed, but Fable One didn't exactly inspire confidence in that department either.

Yes, the game can still be long, with the help of sidequests, as we see with the Watcher's Keep in Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal and almost every single quest in Morrowind.

I'm just hoping that it will provide more of a challenge and replay value than the first Fable did.

As long as the main quest is good, I don't mind. If it's long and dull, what's the point?
