The guys at GameDAILY have written up a preview of Dragonshard, the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons RTS/RPG hybrid from Atari and Liquid Entertainment. Here's a bit to start you off:
Gaining experience is also being handled a bit differently. As heroes/squads adventure along, they add experience to a common pool. You can use the experience from this pool to level up single characters or certain units. You can gain even more experience by exploring and adventuring about the land, or finding caves and holes that will give them access to the Underworld.

Didn't we mention city building? Why yes we did! In Dragnoshard buildings will actually have benefits based on where they are located. This is part of the new "Nexus System" created specifically for the game. Say for instance you put a Cleric training hall near a Mage Guild, all the units produced there will get a boost to their spellcasting ability. Or if you place a blacksmith near troop barracks, those troops will have a boosted armor class. Unlike most RTS games, placement of your buildings will play as important a roll as maintenance of them, and will have tremendous effects on gameplay.
