RPGVault has interviewed David Allen of Artifact Entertainment concerning their recent press release about partnering with NCSoft. The interview gives Horizons fans some insight as to why the deal was made, and what it means to the future of the MMORPG:
Jonric: What kind of role will NCsoft be taking in the ongoing development of Horizons, either on active and/or consulting basis? To what extent if any have they been involved already?
David Allen: NCsoft currently has no active role in the development of HORIZONS - as mentioned earlier, they are strategic partners through investment and licensing. While we will be working closely with them to make HORIZONS the best game it can be, the base design is controlled solely by Artifact Entertainment and the HORIZONS team.
This was a very important goal of mine in the future - to establish funding and licensing for HORIZONS without giving into the 'bureaucratic development' process that eat most game companies alive. We have accomplished this goal.
