Post City of Abandoned Ships Peek #1

RPG Vault's latest "peek" feature takes a closer look at City of Abandoned Ships, the upcoming pirate-themed RPG from Akella and Russian developer Seaward.
More than 20 islands 40 unique cities, the Spanish Main, jungles and caverns wait to be explored, with no shortage in adventures. Using the P.I.R.AT.E.S. role-playing system, players can create unique characters as they see fit. It's a close analogue to the SPECIAL scheme in the legendary Fallout. The main parameters range from 1 to 10. The character's personal skills increase based on its actions during play. For example, weapon skills increase during battles, and the trade skill rises when the character buys and sells goods.

Also there are perks, additional skills that become available as the character's level rises. There are personal and naval ones. Some of the latter are useful during battles; they decrease reload time, raise the chances of boarding successfully, etc. Others can help increase ship speed, help survive storms, and make officers learn faster. When the initial phase is over and the player has acquired crew, officers and supplies for his ship, it's time to set sail and find a big adventure. And there are plenty in City of the Lost Ships.

Sounds like the game might have some potential.

Yah - been a long time since I've played a good "pirate RPG"
I think Sea Legends was the best I played and that wasn't an RPG and that is some years old.

I haven't liked any of Akella's pirate-themed games (Age of Sail II barely even worked), but at least using a SPECIAL-like system sounds promising.
