GameSpy is the latest gaming site to offer a
two-page preview of Auto Assault, NCsoft and Netdevil's upcoming vehicular post-apocalyptic MMORPG. Take a look:
And then we have "Hazard Mode." Think of them as Auto Assault's uber abilities. These are immensely powerful moves that you can't execute too often, but will usually turn the tide of a battle once tapped. Each faction has a Hazard Mode ability specific to it, and they're all suitably impressive. We only got to see the Borg-like Biomech faction's at the recent event. It was wonderfully predictable, but I'd like to emphasize the "wonderful" part: it involved the vehicle transforming into a giant robot, and laying waste to everything around it. Quite neat. We didn't get to see the other factions' abilities, but word is that the Mutants' will involve some sort of harnessing of nuclear spirits, while the Humans' will do some sort of magic with shield-inversion technology. The strength and nature of these attacks will be dependent on the Hazard Mode Kit that you have installed.
