Post Auto Assault Interviews

Both Gaming Nexus and Ten Ton Hammer are offering up new interviews for NCsoft and NetDevil's Auto Assault. The one over at Gaming Nexus is with Richard Iggo:
Q: Is everything in the game really destructible? Can you deform terrain as well?

A: Practically everything out on the Highway can be blown up, torn down and otherwise destroyed. This applies to buildings, trees, enemies and so on. There’s no terrain deformation and you can’t destroy anything when in one of the major towns, but there’s more than enough stuff out in the world to breakdown to its component pieces to make even the most “angry” person happy. There’s no other MMO with the degree of environmental interactivity that Auto Assault has, The Havok engine allows us to do some very cool stuff and it really makes a difference to the game experience. It feels odd having played Auto Assault where you can have a real, physical impact on the game world, to return to a current MMOG where the only things that you can affect are mobs and other players.

And the other at Ten Ton Hammer is with Scott “Scorch” Brown:
Q: was there anything that you saw or played during development that had a sudden bearing on Auto Assault's direction?

A: Certainly, we all play lots of games here and have been influenced by ideas from those games that we thought would make sense in Auto Assault. We have also seen games do some things we were trying that did not work and allowed us to rethink and remove during development and early testing. An example would be that we had the goal of making Auto Assault very mission-centric – looking at WoW gave us some additional ideas as to how to make this happen. Another example is from City of Heroes where when you do something the text element moves to the place in the UI for you to interact with - such a great idea!
