Asheron's Call 2: Legions Developer Diary

Turbine's official Asheron's Call 2: Legions website has been updated with a new developer diary written by lead artist Rockton. Here's a bit of what he had to say about "Grievvers":

Since Grievvers are the nemesis of the Olthoi, I thought it was important to make them as different as possible. Both creatures are, in essence, big bugs. The more they looked and acted differently yet were still menacing, the better. Olthoi stand upright while Grievvers are on all fours… that was a good start and already established. I felt, though, that there was a more dramatic way to vary the two adversaries. The Olthoi already had the smooth beetle shell look going on, so the Grievvers needed something else. After Sable modeled the Grievver, she asked me what sort of texture it ought to have and said something like “anything that doesn’t look like an Olthoi… maybe a crustacean shell?” Well, she took that idea and ran with it. She did an awesome job, as you will see soon for yourselves.
