I don't see any problems with them in this browser; they look perfectly fine.

Isn't is possible to have both the old and the new smilies around? In code you could make a difference like
Code:
:)
for the old smile smilie and
Code:
:-)
for the new one.

Really like EEK, though.
If you follow the link Faberge provided, you can see the question marks more cleary.

Why would you want to do that for? I thought one smiling smiley should be enough. Why add another one?

Presumably to give people a choice between the two different styles.

I generally prefer the new smilies, though I'm still not too sure about the green grin... it looks like a giant green pumpkin in need of dental work...
(love the sticking out tongue smilie though)

Well, yeah, but what's the point of having two smilies to serve one purpose? Wouldn't that be rather pointless?

After seeing the old ones for quite some time, I wouldn't mind a change in the smilies' looks. Something different for a change, if you ask me. As for that green grinning smiley, it looks like that smiley is sick (sickly colour).

I do see your point, but I'm figuring that for anyone who would like the choice it is sort of like being in a restaurant and being able to select steak, chicken or a veggie burger from the menu. All serve the same purpose, namely to provide you with nourishment, but your personal preferences are going to dictate which you want to eat.

My own view is that it would be better for everyone to agree on particular emoticons because otherwise it might make things a bit confusing, and give a cluttered look to the boards, but that is just me.

Anyway on the emoticons themselves, here is my take:

The Good:

The "I'm not sure:"

The Bad:
Owing to the image restrictions I'll just write them: The big green grin, the confused smilie
