| | | Kron pondered this change of events. Chances were this group would fear to hurt him, however anything could happen. People were often awed by him so much they decided to subdue him, which caused all sorts of problems. As a general rule, people who singled him out due to his heritage were not to be trusted, and Kron felt the same way about this particular group. Nevertheless, the paladin was correct, this was the only way. "It seems that you are correct. We need them, but that does not mean we can trust them. They want me, they would be expecting you, but Tway, they don't want her. Perhaps we could take advantage of her. I suggest that we confront them the main way, with me talking, and simply state we left her at the Temple. Meanwhile, I will have already cast a darkness spell on an object for Tway to carry, and she will sneak around and end up behind the group without them knowing. That way if something happens, we will have an advantage. That is of course, if Tway agrees."
Kron knew this was risky, however it was the only way, and it was best for everyone if Tway did this. |

| | | "Hmm...that's an interesting plan. How long would the spell last though and it would have to be cast in a naturally dark place so the area affected wouldn't be obvious." Sh'rarn saw flaws in the plan and again was reluctant to be seperated from Tway, but it seemed the best option if Kron could alleviate the concerns he risen. |

| | | "Well in my knowledge, the spell lasts for approximately 10 minutes, which is plenty of time for Tway to become settled. Also, the problem about already dark is solved by casting it on an object. You see, you can simply cover the object, and no cloud is made, then when the cover is removed, the cloud appears again." Kron was always amazed how people doubted him, he was after all an experienced sorcerer, well they learn in time. |

| | | Sh'rarn nodded. It seemed thought out enough and his specialities were hardly in arcane spells. Tway didn't seem against the plan either, she would certainly be vocal about it if she was. "Very well, we should set off soon and hopefully no-one will challenge us on the way".
The group headed out of the inn and turned to the east, the location of the Blushing Mermaid Tavern. Taking lesser travelled routes they soon found a sewer entrance close to where they needed to be. Sh'rarn stopped Tway and Kron, "We shouldn't take the obvious route down, that might be watched by our potential foes". |

| | | Kron reached into his pockets and withdrew a curiosly spherical shaped object. "This is an extremely important object to me, if it is lost, I will be most displeased." Muttering in an arcane language and using various ingredients, a cloud suddenly appeared, which Kron quickly hid with a cloth over the object. "Now take this, and do not get seen." Watching as Tway hurried Kron turned back to Sh'rarn. "We however should take the most obvious route, as we no doubt trust our new associates." With that Kron strode off to the Blushing Mermaid. |

| | | An act of faith on the part of Kron? Odd. He rushed to catch up. "Hmm, I never said we should trust them, nor do I expect they trust us. An act of faith on our part would reflect well though".
They approached the tavern and found a prominent entrance and descending the ladders into the dank and gloom... |

| | | Kron shook his head, which was heard to see in the gloom. "I was being sarcastic, however acting ignorant never hurt anyone. Now, although I am good at talking to strangers, I do not trust these people and do not wish to be out in front and vunerable. I think it would be best if I stayed back so I could concentrate more on keeping watch, rather than focusing on talking. Are you okay with this idea?" |

| | | Sh'rarn nodded. "That may be for the best. At least one of them knows who I am by appearance, anyway."
With Sh'rarn in the lead they walked down the side of the muck-infested sewer. He could hardly see a thing in this darkness. Not that there was much to see or that he wanted to see much of it. Soon enough the passage they walked down entered a hub where several passages converged. A torch was burning on one side of the area. Someone sauntered out of the opposite passage into the slightly better lit sewer hub. He or she was well-cloaked hiding all and any distinctive features.
"Welcome, Sh'rarn, Paladin of the Red Knight. Your companion is also welcome here, he has no need to hide", a feminine voice announced. |

| | | Kron chuckled to himself. Why is it that people always ask to see him, afterall, they would look the same if they applied a bottle of black paint to themselves. "Why is it you ask to see me, when you yourself hides away. Perhaps if you were to show yourself, I would be more inclined to show you." |

| | | Apparently Kron was set on alienating someone else. On the other hand, it may work in their favour.
A few more people stepped out of the shadows but the cowled woman raised a hand stopping them in their tracks. "You raise a good point Kron" and with that she lifted the cloak off he head, "Are you satisfied now?" she said in a voice that Sh'rarn noted had some melodic qualities.
Still looking at Kron she said, "I take it you are interested in learning more of our offer?"
Sh'rarn was surprised that she addressed Kron even though the offer had been delivered to him, obviously these people had some reverence for Kron, even though this was their first meeting. |

| | | Kron was becoming anxious, he did not want to be the one to communicate with these people, he had other concerns. Removing his hood, Kron heard a number of gasps. "Here is your drow. My companion and comrade-in-arms had informed me of your offer, and it is intruiging, however it is my comrade who is our leader, so all decisions are ultimately his. As such, it is probably best that he organise all details of the deal with you, though I am much honoured by your trust in me, it is a strange world in which we must live. I hope my leader has also your trust."
Kron had to add this last bit to make sure he did not offend this group, as they may see Sh'rarn as somewhat inferiour to Kron, and as such, think Kron weak in being subservant. The woman was interesting though, but certainly a dangerous and ruthless one nonetheless. |

| | | She seemed reluctant to deal with Sh'rarn but wanted to respect the drow's wishes. She sighed and turned to him, "Would you be willing to help us in order to get free passage?"
"I know little of you or your organisation or even who you are".
"Hmm, yes it is much to ask. Very well, some more information about us. We do not conflict your goals or those of the Red Knights, nor do we seek to destroy or harm the city"
"That could be seen as a matter of perspective", Sh'rarn remarked shrewdly. |

| | | Kron glanced around warily. This group actually seemed quite harmless. He sincerly hoped Tway did not do anything to jepordise this chance, it seemed they were genuine. The looks on their faces were of worry and concern, rather than guile and deception. Perhaps this was truly a noble cause, and if Sh'rarn could be convinced of such, all the better. "So what are your goals, I'm sure we would be willing to help?" |

| | | This 'organisation', whatever it truly was, didn't seem so bad. However, what legitimate group met strangers in sewers?! He wasn't convinced that these strangers had their best intentions in mind.
"Yes, what do you need us to do?" Sh'rarn echoed Kron.
"Hmm...there is someone that requires protection, he may be attacked in the next day and we need capable people to act as bodyguards. I trust you have no problems with this?" |

| | | Kron chuckled to himself. No matter how desperate they were, they would never do something while being unaware of the consequences. Besides, he wished to know about this group and their leader. "You cannot expect us to do such a task without first letting us know who that person is. Also, I have a personal wish to know about this organisation you have started, and why you wish to see me? If you could answer these questions, I would be most pleased." Kron seriously doubted they would refuse this. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
