Stargate Story Thread - NO SPAM

The Goa’uld used mind control. That’s how they had been able to infiltrate his cell. All due to a reckless move by the leadership of the Trust in a ploy to destroy Earth’s greatest foes.

Major Collins only just avoided a similar fate to that of his colleagues, becoming prisoners to the Goa’uld, either captured or implanted. Now he was on the run in an attempt to avoid being captured or tortured himself. The Trust knew about him and through them so did the Goa’uld. He didn’t know which System Lord was responsible for all this though, nor did he much care, freedom was the overriding concern of the moment.

Escaping into the wilderness had been his only chance; the Stargate was far too heavily guarded. Fortunately after a few days, the search had appeared to come to an end; perhaps they didn’t think him valuable enough of underestimated his will to survive. Spying on the movements in the Trust encampment from afar he saw that equipment was being moved through to the ‘gate to an unknown planet. Perhaps the Goa’uld wished to relocate or strike somewhere else, but it gave him a chance to access the ‘gate, despite a limited number of choices as where to go. Obviously he couldn’t return to the SGC from where he left Earth for the last time a couple of years ago. He had no GDO and even if the iris were opened he would be arrested on the charge of treason and face his death at a later point.

No, the only other option was to contact some allies he had made in the last few allies on alien planets. Those that had similar goals or simply did not know the truth of who he really was…

Paige hit the dirt, the System lords forces were closing in on the base and the platoon was pinned down. The gate was so close but there were too many gafa, Kent (The platoon leader) screamed something but I couldn’t make it out. The battle cruisers slowly turned our last base to dust as Kent finally stood up, right then I knew exactly what he was going to do. He unsnapped his backpack and sprinted for the gate, the gafa yelled and started shooting. He made it to the bunker and started to dial, one after another the staff blasts started to hit there mark. He managed to type six out of the seven symbols before finally giving up, Paige shouted and everyone ran, shot after shot the platoon was mowed down. As Paige past the podium she hit the last symbol and the stargate activated. She was the only one to make it alive.

Lt. Colonel Dostrem was crouching behind huge rock. Quick glance confirmed his fears true. The only gates of the city was heavily guarded by Goa'ulds. Dostrem checked his gear and noticed that he had only few ammos left to his M-16 rifle. Far from the amount he would need to take every guard down. So straight assault was out of question. So how would he get inside the city? This was more problematic than he had thought.

Maybe separate few guards by luring them out, then killing those and taking their weapons? Could work, but where would he lure them? And how would he get only few coming to place he wanted rather than whole group? And even if only few would come, how would others react? Would they sound alarm? No, that consist too many variables and too many risks, there must be other way. But what?

While wondering those things Dostrem took new glance over the rock. What he saw suprised him very much. There was only one guard standing at the gate. Wondering where others had left Dostrem decided that this would be the best, and maybe even the only, situation to act, and it had to be done soon.

After checking that the Goa'uld was facing other direction, Dostrem grabged big stone, and threw it to bush near. The stone hit the bush, making sound that got guards attention. But to Dostrem disappointment, the gurad didn't go to check what it was, just stared the bush weapon ready to shot. Few minutes later the guard relaxed, possibly thinking that it was nothing, and faced the other direction again. Again Dostrem took big rock, and threw it towards the bush. Again, the rock hit, making sound. This time the guard got so suspicious that it actually started to walk towards the bush, weapon ready to shoot immediatly something that would be threath. As soon as the guard reached the bush, Dostrem raised his gun and shot the rest of his bullets. The guard dropped dead.

When Dostrem was sure that the guard really was dead, he started to sneak closer the body, all the time making sure that nobody wasn't watching at that direction. After Dostrem reached the body, dragged it behind the bush.

He needed more intel.
Escaping wasn't enough on it's own. His knowledge of Stargate addresses was limited and it was time to call in a favour from a former "colleague". However, finding someone trustworthy would be difficult indeed. After all operatives of the Trust were expected to be somewhat independent and now many of them had been compromised.
Not that the Major didn't knew a few that were resourceful enough to avoid such a fate and the original mandate was to fight rather than become the Goa'uld!
Maybe rooting out one of the more hidden operatives would provide the valuable information he required, potential allies, Stargate addresses, safe locations.
Crawling out from the undergrowth, he approached the DHD cautiously looking for any enemy activity and seeing nothing, he pressed the seven buttons in sequence activating the gate. It opened with it's customary roar that never seemed to become normal and after a final cursory glance around he headed to the event horizon passing through on a journey to a world, hundreds of light years away...

After hiding the corpse behind the bush, he started to sneak towards the gate. It seems that no alarm was sounded because he wasn't able to see any activity near the gates, not anywhere outside the huge walls of the city.

Strange, thought, that they left only one guard, especially when thinking what was inside the city. The same thing that was reason for Dostrem being there.

He reached the gate. It was huge, almost length of three man and even wider. It consisted two huge wooden doors, other was open making the actual passage through smaller. He made quick glance, and saw that there was nobody. Only long empty street, buildings both sides of it. The street seemed to go as far Dostrem was able to see, and what he remembered from the maps, it actually got straight throught the city connecting both gates of the city. From that street there were openings to smaller alleys, which again lead to other alleys and so on. Only largest buildings had the doors to this big street, and most of those buildngs served as govermental buildings and such.

Or, served until Goa'ulds came. As far as intelligences were right, Goa'ulds were controlling this city now, taking all natives to slaves. All except one. The one, who Dostrem was going to assassinate.

No Goa'ulds were walking in that main street. In fact, if Dostrem hadn't seen all those guards and even killed one, he would believe they had never been there. No signs of life. Actually no signs at all that would indicate someone even making a visit there. Strange.

Exiting the Stargate on the new world, Collins immediately crouched down and headed for cover. Where the previous planet had been only occupied by wildlife and their operation, this one was fortified by Jaffa. Around the 'gate were dotted ruins, possibly a relic of whoever used to live here, before the Goa'uld destroyed and enslaved them. Having ruins around a Stargate usually meant that it was important to them, though they may have seen it as a ringed relic rather than it's true purpose. With the amount of address combinations someone could spend forever dialling addresses and getting nowhere especially if they didn't know their Point of Origin symbol.
At least there was a DHD and no Jaffa, Goa'uld or whatever other people lived here around. Getting shot at would have been bad after all. Still, the Stargate didn't open quietly, so he should make some distance away from it.

~~~
Making his way up a ridge, he took out some binoculars, he could scout the encapments from a distance this way. To the east, he could see a walled city and close to it, some troop transports and a Hatak mothership on the ground. Of course, the Hatak might suggest that a System Lord would be in residence, but it depended on the System Lord. Once it seemed that they were happy with a few motherships, then the SGC and SG-1 started it's explorations, caused chaos and now System Lords seemed to have hundred's of ships.
Likely, his contact was in the thick of it, probably in the city, maybe even infiltrated in the Jaffa/Goa'uld ranks. Getting in that city seemed to be the only option. It was at least a few klicks (kilometers) away. A long walk and he could hardly stroll in either, it was likely to be guarded by Jaffa and he would stand out easily in his combat uniform. Maybe an ambush was in order...
In the center of the city, there was huge park-like are, surrounded small wall.But Dostrem knew it served other purpose as well. There was supposed to be entrance to lower-level, possible to sewers or something. There, Goa'ulds should have their HQ.
Dostrem was reaching the park slowly, all the time ready for sudden ambush that might come at any time. Actually, he was even excepting ambush, since he hadn't seen any Goa'ulds or Jaffas since those guards had left excluding the one.
Dostrem reached the entrance of the park without being interrupted even once. It seemed like no-one was there anymore, like everybody had just disappeared. Very strange. From what he knew, even if the high-ranking Goa'ulds and the native he was after were left, there should have been at least few guards to ensure everything goes well.
He made quick glance inside the park. It was rather big, almost 100 meters long and wide. But to his luck, Dostrem knew where the entrance to sewers was supposed to be. He closed the statue, which was in very center of the park, staying behind bushes or trees as often as it was possible. He reached the satue without problems. Still no sign of Goa'ulds.
The statue represented man, possible someone very important to the city. But Dostrem didn't have more knowledge of who the man was or is. And he didn't even care of it. The only thing that made the statue interesting was that it also served as entrance to those sewers beneath the city. The entrance could be opened by pushing correct letter in the base of statue.
When Dostrem pushed it, he heard noise coming under the statue, after few seconds, the statue started to move, away from Dostrem, bringing stairs visible. Dostrem raised the weapon he had taken from guard, and started to go down to darkness...
Still looking through the binoculars the Major spied a major road leading out of the city and twisting through the countryside. Perhaps he could ambush some of the travellers on that road.
Checking his equipment, he walked off in the direction of the road keeping an eye out for signs of the patrols. Using his zat'n'ktel would likely be the best option here, though it wasn't totally reliable, the one he owned had been known to break down before and of course that could only happen at the worst possible times.
Walking at a steady pace through the rolling countryside, he marvelled at how similar this planet was to Earth, a blue sky, green meadows, trees and birdsong despite the subtle differences.
Concealing himself by the road he waited for travellers to pass on by. Then he would stun them with the zat and take some clothes for himself. Camouflage for the city.
After long descending, Dostrem finally arrived to the bottom. There was just enough light to see, so he decided not to turn his light on, because that could betray him in bad case. As he studied the tunnel he had arrived, Dostrem noticed that it actually wasn't sewer, as he had supposed, but instead a long tunnel leading to north as far he was able to see. No doors or entrances to any other direction was visible. So, the only way was to north then.
Dostrem wasn't sure how long he had followed the tunnel. But finally he reached huge door at the other endof the tunnel. As he listened, no sound was coming from other side. There were no keyholes, so he wasn't able to see what was behind the door.
Carefully, Dostrem opened the door. There was huge room, filled with wooden and metallic boxes. Slowly he step inside, all the time ready for anything. Suddenly, he felt strong pain, and then everything was black...
He had a long wait, having overestimated the traffic on the pathway. It did seem to have been paved at some point but was now falling into ruin.
Settling in close to the road but still hidden he waited for any signs of activity. The next night, he was rewarded for his efforts seeing some small lights that appeared to be approaching in his direction. Of course, this could be a Jaffa patrol, in which case he could be outnumbered and outgunned. Besides, taking a Jaffa disguise would be far riskier, the missing original patrol would be expected to check in and when that failed to happen, the number of guards would likely be increased.
If he ambushed some civilian travellers, then their disappearance may also be noticed, but it was unlikely that the Goa'uld or Jaffa would care at all.
Luck was with him, he saw as he looked through his binoculars again, the approaching three people didn't wear the distinctive Jaffa armour, though it was hard to see anything else from this distance. As far as he knew, the locals didn't possess much in the way of weaponry, not that the Goa'uld would permit such things anyway.
The Major considered how he would ambush these people, naturally the advantage of surprise would count for a great deal, many of the weapons he possessed had lethal capability and he was reluctant to use those. After all, he only needed their clothes. Some of his former colleagues would likely have no problem murdering defenceless civilians for such a reason, but he was better than that and would only use lethal force as necessary.
Setting up some C4 close to the path, not expecting to need it and checking his weapons to ensure thay would work as expected, he waited for the travellers to approach.
Pain. The pain was almost unbearable. Dostrem felt like every joint and muscle from his body was torn away, one by one and without haste. He could not open his eyes, for he had to use all his mental force to not scream. The pain was terrible. Finally, the pain grew so big he fainted.
When Dostrem woke up, he noticed that he was in cell of some sort. The pain was still there, though not as bad as it had been. Still, moving arms or legs were so painfull that he decided to not try that again right away. Instead, he concentrated on studying the place he was, and trying to remember what really had happened. He remembered that he had entered the room full of boxes, suddenly feeling terrible pain. After that, everything was black. He did not know how long he had been where he was, but surely he had been tortured by someone. His skin was full of bruises, his nose was broken, there were marks of burn in his arms and in his legs. But, despite the pain, it seemed like everything worked. He was able to move his arms and legs, his head turned, his vision was somewhat normal and he was able to hear some distant sounds and smell faint of burned skin, coming from himself.
The place Dostrem was hold was quite small, only about 4 meters wide and 4 meters long. There were lamp above him, in the middle of room. The room was few meters high. There were no furnitures, but from the architechture of walls and floor Dostrem was able to determine that where ever the place was, it wasn't at least in Goa'uld ship. But why tat did not made him any more relief? Actually, it looked more like construction of natives, hinting that he was still in the planet where he had been just before the ambush. So, surely it would be easier to escape from here than from ship.
So, now he had studied the place where he was held, so Dostrem started to think what had happened. He had entered the room. He hadn't seen anything suspicious, nor heard any. So, could Goa'ulds have been able to sneak behind him, following to the room and then capturing him? That didn't sound correct. First, usually Goa'ulds had shooted intruders if there were chances to do that. So, why would they have allowed him to continue that far before attacking? And why not kill him right away, why capture? That left two options: First, there were guards he hadn't noticed in the room, but still that the capturing didn't make any sense. Second, and even more frightening, was someone had ordered guards to capture him. That would have explained why there was only one guard left at the gates, why he hadn't seen anybody, and the sudden ambush. But why? Why would someone want to capture him? Who even knew that he was here, surely not the Goa'ulds at least. And, was he even sure that he was captured by Goa'ulds? Could there be others who had ambushed him, someone who prefered capturing instead of killing? So many questions, so few answers.
Shifting uneasily, Major Collins waited for the small group of travellers to encroach on his position. Soon enough, he could hear voices and raised the zat gun, ready to strike.
A woman and two men cloaked in native garb reached the point he determined was good for the ambush. Jumping out from the undergrowth he fired the zat. An electric-like lash fired from the weapon and one of the men crumpled to the ground. The group were taken completely by surprise and offered little resistance. An obvious lack of training.
Checking over their unconcious bodies, for anything useful he found some golden pieces, presumably the local currency. Taking that (perhaps if he needed to bribe or buy something it would be handy) he then considered their clothing. They seemed to favour robes or something like Roman togas. These ones were in natural colours. One of them seemed relatively close to his height, so that would have to do.
Soon, he was walking back down the pathway in the direction the other travellers had arrived from, dressed in clothes that would be familiar to the locals and the Jaffa patrols. Hidden underneath the robe, in some unexpected pockets were his supplies, though a stash may be required closer to the city to avoid such things being detected.
It was hard to measure how long he had been waiting, but Dostrem was sure it was at least several hours. Finally, almost invisible door opened in one of the walls. Three Goa'ulds were standing there, two pointing him with zat. The third one, longer than two others, walked behind Dostrem and begu pushing him forward. Dostrem in front, behind him the long guards, they walked in long tunnel-like place. The walls were stone, it seemed that the tunnel was hastly digged in rock.
After several minutes they reached new door. Long Goa'uld opened the door, then pushed Dostrem through to new champer. The champer was huge, there were table made of iron, somewhat longer that Dostrem. Straps on it hinted that it was either used in medical purposes, or in torturing. The second one seemed more possible. While looking around Dostrem also noticed small pool in one corner, filled with something liquid. THere were chains hanging from roof above the pool. There were also shelves, and different kinds of torturing equipment in them. There were also board, one side full of spikes.
Dostrem and Goa'uld guards weren't the only ones in that chamber. There were new Goa'uld, and also someone who could be native in that planet Dostrem was ambushed. Actually, by focusing more to this woman, Dostrem realised that she was actually the very person he was supposed to assassinate. Both, Goa'uld and woman, were looking him very intensively, as like trying to determine how they could best torture him.
Suddenly, the woman started to speak: "So, you are the one ordered to assassinate me? How pathethic. Did they really believe someone as weak as you could actually success in that? Success in getting past guards without being noticed, the success to sneak inside this complex, finally success to get close enough to me to actually be able to fulfill the mission? Fools! They are more fool than I ever imagined. But their mistake is paid to you. We will get everything out from you, every bit of information about you, your mission and especially about your so called bosses."
Dostrem moved his gaze to the woman.
"You cannot get anything from me! I've been tortured numerious times by Goa'ulds, and their methods haven't got anything out from me. So why do you believe you know such methods that Goa'ulds doesn't?"
Woman gave evil smile.
"You cannot imagine what kinds of ways I have to torture someone. You see that pool over there?" She points the pool Dostrem had noticed earlier. "It's full of acid. Have you ever been dipped in acid? No problem, you will be soon. And that's not even close to those painful ways I know. Guards! Take him back to his cell. We will started questioning tomorrow."
After said this, woman and Goa'uld left, and those three guards started to push Dostrem back to his cell, to wait tomorrow...
Blackness, that’s all there was for what felt like centuries, every once in a while a small echo murmured through the dark hollow place which was all that could be seen. After a time light started to show like stars finally coming out after a long cloudy day. As the light became stronger Paige realized that she was sleeping, struggling to wake up she finally realized it was useless and fell right back in to blackness.
-----------
Cold water rushed over Paige’s face and she woke choking and sputtering.
Paige-"What the hell?"
Lady-"Calm yourself child I will not hurt you"
Paige looked around and realized she was laying in a stream, a middle aged woman was holding on to her shoulders and looking down at her with concern
Lady-"You have been in a coma for quit a few weeks I’m afrad, you just started coming out of it yesterday but this morning you started to slip back again so I decided maybe a little cold water will help."
As her eyes adjusted to the suns Paige saw she was in the middle of a small town, the houses made of clay probably collected from this very river stood tall and gray under the morning sun. Paige also noticed she was stripped of her gear and uniform besides her shirt and camo pants. The Lady still looking concerned spoke up.
Lady- "Do you understand what I’m saying?"
Paige-"Yes, what happened? Who are you and where am I?"
The Lady Chuckled and helped Paige out of the water
Lady- "I am Lessa, you were found in front of the stone eye unconscious and badly wounded by some hunters in the next village. They brought you to me to be healed."
Paige-"So are you the town healer or something?"
Lessa- “Somthing like that, now no more questions girl lets get you inside and dried off."
Now it was time to see whether the disguise came up to scratch. Walking on the path heading to the East in which direction the city lay, he was watchful for any unwanted surprises. As he approached the city, the pathway subtly began to improve. It was better maintained here, though the number of patrols was increasing too. They were quite lax this far out though, it was probably a punishment duty to be sent out here, where the wildlife provided the entertaiment. Maybe they used the animals as target practice with their ammo-less weapons.
Anyway, Collins didn't appear anything out of the ordinary to them and he passed by the outer ring of patrols without bother. The inner patrols might of course be more troublesome, especially if a Goa'uld was in residence. Nothing like a 'god' to inspire your duties.
Finding a recognisable spot to hide much of the equipment was the next priority, though he still wanted to hang on to a weapon, probably the zat, otherwise he would be effectively defenceless.
Fortunately the landscape provided many such opportunities for such hiding places, with farmland becoming more common closer to the city and this was seperated often by planted borders of hedges, the perfect place to hide something, as long as you could identify the place again. Hmm, what would make this place recognisable to him but not the Jaffa?
He hid most of his equipment while puzzling over this problem.
