| | Fas on board??? Oh goody!! Count me in!! *evil grin*
I don't see a problem with the story being based here, since it seems more appropriate now. (This forum not having been around in the days of DF)
I think if the discussion thread gets anywhere near as many posts as the old DF discussion threads did, being in SYM will give the profile needed.
What we will need to be sure of, though, is does this remain a tactical discussion thread in respect of the storyline, and will we need a separate spam thread? It did get a little out of hand with the DF from time to time.
Just my thoughts - for now

| | lol! It's good to see this idea has generated so much interest
I think Wednesday sounds good. In the meantime, if people have the urge to write, it is always possible to begin an itroductory post in Word, Open Office etc. The post could be a sort of background/character development piece. Once we all begin posting, these can be adapted and modified accordingly. For example, you can write up until a particular point, and then leave it open in terms of how your character came to meet up with everyone else; this can be filled in once you actually post it and see what everyone else has written.
I began writing up such a post last night, great fun!

| | I'm not sure where I'll go with this, but I think I might want to do a gnome inventing an odd horse drawn 2 wheeled cart.

| | ROFL! So can I! It would be kinda funny also if someonme did something of a Minsc type of character.
One question; what genre is this going to be? And what kind of setting? Has anyone though about that kind of thing?

This is going to be loosely based on a D&D Faerun (i.e Baldur's Gate, IWD) setting. The original story was initially inspired by a certain pompous knight in Shadows of Amn, so while things are very open, it makes chronological sense to retain the same setting, since some of characters will be the same as those in the old books.
I don't see why we can't create our own new towns, villages and so forth. But we'll likely still have settlements like Trademeet. Athkatla, The Spine of the World etc.
As I mentioned in an earlier post though, it is sort of like playing Shadows of Amn after the original Baldur's Gate game. There is a shared history between some of the NPCs, but you don't need to have played the first game to appreciate the second

| | Well, I've not played Shadows of Amn, but who cares? I'm a horse-drawn biker gnome!
Well...TM did mention something to me after seeing my post about having thought of being an alcoholic gnome at first. Maybe he'll follow through on that even considering I decided to be a gnome too? That could provide all sorts of amusement if done right.

| | Hmm, well if Fas and TM do decide such things, we'll have the three midgeteers.
Spellcaster eh? Must think of how to exploit that...

*evil snicker* You might want to be careful.... This particular character is quite able at exploiting that skill on her own...
Hmmm... I think Ysh is right... a DF pub is in order... In SYM I think though...

| | Well, since everyone is already thinking up their characters, I'll just have to work on mine. I was thinking along the lines of a half-Elf ranger or cleric, but I'll have to think on it.

| | And the dark flames rise from the ashes again I probably won't be involved much beyond an occasional guest appearance, not unless my muse suddenly kicks in, but I'd love to pop in once in a while
