| | Well, if a character has terrible melee skills (like mine) killing rats can actually take a lot more time than you would expect. But if you have great big guns skills (like mine) you can just whip out a rocket launcher and kill 8-10 rats in one turn.
My choice is obvius .

So, you should be able to kill at least one rat in one turn. So IMO it doesn't take so much time to kill even big group... | And if we proceed a bit further, a 500 hp character will most likely have his combat skills high enough to drop a killing blow each time (e.g. Finesse and Fast shot traits, 10 luck, 10 Agility, 2xAction Boy, Bonus Rate of Fire, Better Criticals and Sniper perks combined with a gauss pistol at 150% small guns make 6 shots every turn with approx. 60 dmg critical shot each), so you'll wipe out every rat in Klamath in less than 5 minutes
of course, that doesn't work if you play with a non-combat character
and yes, I'm a freak |

| | rats? annoying? well, they are easily killed, you can run from them and make few damage... why would they be annoying? you can kill 'em unarmed, even being a big gun character.... or a small gun, or even plasma! if you don't wanna fight, you can run easily... or you can just burn them to their bones with any weapon you want...
btw, wozaii you're a bit mad 'bout rats huh.. .. using bazookas vs poor rodents...
rats can be annoying only when you're in a race againt time, or you wanna finish a quest before sleeping and then in the middle of the world a horde of rats want to kill you! so killing 'em all or running can be a little exaustive but that's all...
if you wanna meet a real annoying monster (I can't call that a NPC) try to fight some... I forgot the name, it's those fellas at the tanker at SF... those aliens, like centaurs or somethin' like... I dunno why, but it's hard to get criticals on them, and they take too much shots before dying..

It's the only critter I know of that takes very little or no damage from the pulse gun
Plus they can have poison attack
But I found out that they fall quite fast when you go after 'em with a laser gun |

I actually find rats and ants and mantises VERY annoying when i am strolling the deserts. I move one step, i am attacked by mantises. I kill them, get 100 exp.
Then i move one more step, i am attacked by rats. I kill them, get 300 exp.
THen i move one more step, i am attacked by giant ants. I kill them, get 300 exp.
Then i move one more step, i am attacked by mantises. I kill them, get 125 exp.
Then i move one more step, i am attacked by rats. I kill them, get 250 exp.

Then i move one more step, i am attacked by mantises. I kill them, get 25 exp.
Then i move one more step, i am attacked by rats. I kill them, get 50 exp.
Then i move one more step, i am attacked by giant ants. I kill them, get 75 exp.
You get the picture, i am sure... When i have been doing that for 20 minutes i no longer mind wasting rocket ammo just to get rid of them!! .

| | | I buy up every outdoorsman training book I can find, to get that skill up over 100. Those books can be found or bought in a lot of places. They can be bought from people in random encounters around NCR and SF. Then, later in the game, I can choose to avoid critters like rats and mantis. |

| | | personally I don't spend points on outdoorsman, neither I get any perk related to it. I think it's kinda a waste!
Still, sparrow is right. Itīs very easy to find books of outdoorsman's skill. As at late game money should be no problem, you can buy a lot of those books to raise your skill and evade those encounters. Even thought, I donīt mind to much for them, and I prefer raising other skill's, like steal, sneak or doctor's.

| | | My vote goes to Marcus.
I tried to have him on my party, but he never knew what weapon to use. Always wasting rockets on rats and using a flamethrower (or worse, punching) enclave soldiers. I mean, I would like to just give him a mini-gun and let him go, but he still feels the need to punch people, and he tends to kill - dogmeat - robodog - cyberdog - sulik - deathclaw allies - cows (when doing caravan runs) - and all sorts of other potential allies too much to be worth my time.
and as was mentioned earlier, he is one of the least customizable party members in the game, plus you have to do all those quests and running around just to get him.
But then, I prefer dogmeat to every npc in the game. |

| | hey, that's a nice way. I like it. (but won't receive a honorable title "childkiller"?)
I mean, I know how to plant a bomb without being spotted, but hell, I received a "gravedigger" while digging in Golgotha at night... | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
