So I can save the world but I can't...

tell a child to move the **** out of the way?!

Hello, I'm new to fallout, and getting to the point where I'm not restarting all the time to get the "perfect" character.

Therefore, it's all the more frustrating that a doorway that I'm supposed to get into is clogged with two children. More specifically, the Doctor's house in Shifty Sands. The children are supposed to be running about, but it seems they have collided in the doorway at some point when I was elsewhere.

So now the two children are stuck in the doorway, and I can't get into the Doctor's house. I can imagine it's because both of them are scripted to, or supposed to, go forward, but since they're both blocking eachother, they're getting nowhere. Same with me. I can't get through the door now.

So is there anyway to unclog the doorway? Without killing them of course, or I get the entire village after me. (I've tried like 4 times, they all attack me, no matter how much I damage the children)

Is there a way to tell them to move? Is there a cheat that can teleport me to a certain grid (inside the house) and then back outside?

i can not recall if in fallout 1 you had the option to move people out of the way ... in fallout 2 u use right click and the push icon to move somebody out of the way ... if not you'll just have to restart the area ... also the same thing happens with npc's in the game ... it's annoying but the game is well worth it

This is in Shady Sands, right? I had the same problem and here's how it worked for me: since the children run around all the time they'll eventually move from the doorway, but during the night, they stand still. So, if this occured during the night, just use your PipBoy alarm to rest until 8:00 AM and the kids should start running around again.

AH! Thank you!

It worked when waiting till 8 am. Now the children run around again.
Sheesh, I'm so relieved that I don't have to restart AGAIN.

Thank you, both of you, for coming up with suggestions. Especially Mr. Pastorius! You made my day.
And yes, Twista, the game seems worth it so far. It rocks!

On a sidenote, is there a hotkey for attacking? I mean, a hotkey that I can press to bring up the attack cursor? Gets alittle tiring to manually press the gun-picture or knife-picture everytime I want to attack.

Generally, the hotkey to attack is A, no matter what item you're equipped with. BTW, all hotkeys and interface buttons are listed when you press F1.

Thank you again! I hadn't noticed the F1-listings. Quite handy.

Cheers!
