plz help me get fallout 2 working with winXp

hello
i am a very big fan of fallout 1,2, and fallout tactics i can't get fallout 2 working and i finally got fallout 2 and i really wanna play it, i installed humungus and got as many patches as possible and it still comes up with couldn't load/find fonts can someone plz tell me how to get it working or get it working on small that goes to the standby screen and crashes back to the desktop help!
explain the steps clearly i am not a pro with PC's

Then to the problem:
Have you tired to reinstall the game with humongus install? I mean, uninstall the game and install it again?

As for removing SP2 (Service Pack 2), as far as I know (haven't ever done it myself) it's much trickier thing to do, and if done wrong may mess up something in your computer. So if there is someone who has more experience with removing SP2, please give the details.

So, all I can suggest to do while waiting for those instructions is to try several times reinstalling the game with humongus install. Also, you could try if selecting smaller install helps.

i tried all those things i uninstalled it about 4 times then installed it again
then i tried getting a patch still didn't work still saying couldn't find/load fonts
is there somebody that has had this problem and fixed it before?
and i uninstalled service pack 2 its now SP 1 plz help me it would bhe really apriciated, and thx for the warm welcome that was nice
if a patch gets it working just give me the link plz

Have you tried other installations than humongus? For example the smallest install type?
Also, when patching the game, did you copy both the DAT -file and new .exe -file to the main directory, where are the old .exe -file and those?

It seems that you get the find/load font error if you have either problem with master.dat file or files in /data/art/ directory.
I installed FO2, pathced it, and when tried to play, I got that error message. Thanx to WinXP, my taskbar also showed me message that there were problems with master.dat -file. I tried to reinstall, and wasn't able to that anymore, since the master.dat was corrupted.
So, it seems the very problem of the find/load font error is corrupted master.dat file.

I also noticed that if you uninstall the game, the computer doesn't automatically remove master.dat file. So, even if you reinstall, the problem stays.

So, basically you need to remove the whole directory and THEN reinstall the game. I did just that, and the game works properly.

Also I believe, but I'm not 100% sure, that if you accidentaly mess up with Children Patch, that causes the corruption of master.dat
