No Sound in Fallout One

I cannot get the sound to work at all, I tried VDMSound and it wont let me run the game past the loading screen.
Specs:
Windows XP Home 32Bit Edition
GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
2GB of DDRII Ram Clocked @ 533MHz
AMD Dual Core 4200+
On Board Sound (No sound card)

Can anybody help me out here? The weird thing is I get sound in Fallout 2
