Money for nuthin'?

Even with mediocre intelligence, the Gifted perk eating away my skill points, and not investing any points in Gambling, I actually made a good profit on average when gambling. I taped down the 1 and 4 keys while at the gambling tables, went to bed and was a millionaire when I woke up.

Was this ever patched? Or am I just a really, really REALLY lucky guy?

Don't think so - I remember another bug at gambling.
you could cancel a convesation (think 0 or esc - but long time ago) this meant that you at craps could set your bets, roll, if the outcome wasn't satisfacoty you could cancel the convesation instead of pressing ok (or something) - and next time you clicked on the craps table, your bet would still be active and you could roll the die again. Repeat untill you win the bet(s) you have made and then make new bets and repeat

Since the topic is Money for nothin I have to mention the barter skill (I think that was its name.) I always take it as one of my tags and get it over 100. You can then buy and sell repeatedly to the same merchant and make money. If it is high enough, he sells for less than he buys. Trading equipment is the best way. I used Stimpak's mostly.

if u r a pack rat like me, and never leave things behind, u don't even have to bother with those 2 skills. i finished the game twice, and never had to worry about money (except during the early game of course). i'm carrying around so much equipment that i can practically trade for anything i want.

me too. once i get past the den, the sheer amount of crud in my inventory and car boot was more than enough if i ever needed cash. i usually go for weapons and ammo first, as they may well come in handy and are worth a lot. armour is second as it wieghs a lot, but the price is worth it, and meds are good as they may also be useful occasionally, but weigh very little and sell very well. i have never had to worry about money, only finding enough people to trade with

The "beauty" of the gambling approach is that you don't even need a high skill. I didn't put any points into it and I had taken Gifted, so my character sucked badly at gambling. He still made a profit. This trick is available practically from the moment you emerge from the vault and make your way to the gambling tables. All you need is a moderate buffer of bottle caps.
