Question Invisible Car problem

Hey everyone

I searched google and this forum without hearing any mention of this issue, so I now dare ask for your help:

I my game of Fallout 2, I can only see the trunk of the Highwayman. It's been like that ever since I "saw" it the first time at The Den, but I hoped the problem would go away once I'd delivered the part for Smitty, which it didn't. So now I own a car I can't take anywhere (since I can only click the trunk). For some weird reason, the car's trunk has shown up a few places through the game, including Golgotha, but never with the rest of the car attached.

I have the European version with patch 1.04, Killap's patch and the Children patch installed. The problem looks similar to the one with children (when they're missing), so maybe the game is missing the "art" for the rest of the highwayman?

First of all, welcome to GameBanshee.

And next time, pleace use the search button before posting new thread, since the owner of this site doesn't like duplicated thread to flourish on the forums.

Then to your problem
The car is very buggy if you haven't patched the game. One very common symptony is that only the trunk is visible. Patching up to unofficial patch 1.05 should fix the many common bugs with the car.

The patches can be optained from No Mutants Allowed - Your Post Nuclear News Center!
Though, just keep in mind that in some rare cases the unofficial patches have corrupted the game, especially that 1.05 patch. Those problems are rare, but they still occur. But nevertheless, I suggest to at least try to patch it to 1.05 and try to play.

Thanks for the quick reply.

As I already said, I did in fact search the forum without finding any help on this specific issue, but I might have missed something. In that case, I apologize.

Is it really a good idea to patch to unofficial 1.05, when I already have Killap's unofficial patch installed? Won't the two unofficial patches interfere with each other?

From my experience I would say that those two should go fine together. But my experience is still somewhat limited in Kilap's patch, so I'm not 100% sure.

But if I had to choose between Killap and 1.05, I wold go for 1.05, since it fixes more critical bugs (such as related to the car) than Killap...

yup, I got the 1.05 patch, and... damn, when it comes to smiley's +3% outdoorsman - im pissed off ( forgive me the vocabulary - I was a little bit disappointed, when I saw Smiley's answer: you know enough about geckos, or something like that), but when it comes to car, it's ok.
