| | | Fallout collection DVD I am perplexed. Looks like there are 2 editions sold at Amazon.com - one allegedly published "by Interplay" and one "by Global Software Publishing". The point is the featured boxes look identical and both have GSP logo. The price is higher for "Interplay" though, for no obvious reason.
Does anybody know if there is any real difference? I doubt there is but still...
Besides, in one review (interestingly, found in the "Interplay" section) you can read this:
"This particular collection is from GSP, which mean that it is a British software company. That means that some things--like the fact that there are no children in the game--will be different".
What the heck is he talking about? GSP/Interplay aside, what's that about "children"?

| | Children were removed from the European version (but can be brought back by unofficial patches).
This broke a few quests, and caused a lot of mysteriously floating text above NPCs who weren't there
Possible the two versions are the European version and the US version. |

| | Thanks, Xandax.
So, the British scrapped children to satisfy delicate European sensibilities...
Then I guess the cheaper DVD is the deranged, rough-and-tumble original I am looking for? Just want to make sure before I order it.

| | I own the one that looks like this. However, I can't recall if there were children or not. I believe there were, whether by original game design, patch or a restoration pack.

| | My suggestion: Don't buy the DVD collection version if there is any other option. This is mostly because there tend to be problems with that version, games not working and so on.
Also, wether there is children or not in your game, I recommend installing Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.1 -mod. No need for patches, it's not picky of your language version, as is very well done. Read the link I posted for more info. Quote: |

The last one, can't remember what the letter combination was, was even worse in terms on cencoration than UK version. But I think that version was buried very deep soon after release, as hasn't seen any reference to it in a long time...

| | | When I was looking for Fallout, last year, I couldn't find anything but the DVD version. I've had no problems with it.

| | | Thank you guys.
Amazon sells Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics (I don't care for the latter) for WinXP, but not the original Fallout. So, the 3-in-1 DVD seems to be the only option. However, I am not interested in a censored version.
There is also some confusion concerning patches: one reviewer was overjoyed that the patches were included, another was angry that the patches were not included.
