f2 won't run

It was working a couple days ago but when I tried to load a game today it went black and made an error noise. I tried starting a new game but it did the same thing. I changed its compatibilty to win 98 but it still wouldn't work. I wanted to try to uninstall it but it couldn't find uninst.log. I tried running install again but it couldn't read critter.dat. I tried a system restore back a few days when it was working last but it still wouldn't work.

i had the same problem years ago. the problem is most certainly that you deleted some fallout2 files by accident and you dont have the folders but the games is shown as installed (when you look at the add/remove program list). but it doesnt have to be the same situation. the main problem is that your game is corrupted and you cant uninstall it. first of all, back-up your saved files somewhere if you plan to play with the same character. after that is done, you have to install a uninstalling program. you can find such programs on the internet of course. such programs do the same what your add/remove programs window does, they uninstall programs entirely. when fallout2 is uninstalled, you can play again after you installed the game again .

Also, you can force start the installation.
Just open the cd folder, then double click Setup.exe. That will bypass the autorun, and thus will give you the ability to install the game even though the autorun claims that you have already installed the game.

But the fact that you mentioned that when you try to execute the install, the programm claims that it can't read critter.dat? So the install starts, but at some point during the installation you get the error? This could also be due bad cd (dirty, broken, etc...). Check the cd. Also, if possible, you could try to install the game to another computer to see if it works well in there.

I tried uninstalling it with Safarp, ZSoft, Arp++, Total Uninstall, and Revo but it wouldn't uninstall. The disk is clean too.

Usually, the game doesn't uninstall if there is some specific files missing. As I mentioned in previous post, you can force start the installation to begin (double click the Setup.exe from the cd folder). You have basically two options:
1) Force install the game to the location you used earlier. If the game works, then you can forget the option number 2.
2) After force installing, the uninstall should work properly again, as there are no missing files. Just uninstall the game and reinstall it again.
