Question F2: Café of Broken Dreams

So, in my adventures in the postnuclear landscapes of Fallout 2 I came across this little pearl. I was wandering along, minding my own business when suddenly, I saw the charactristic little green circle of a small settlement. "Hmm," i thought "I'll just check this out." So I entered and what do i see? A dump of a town, but! There was this small diner, wich I entered. Inside was about 7 people wearing the blue and yellow vault dweller suits! I could not engage in any kind of dialogue with them, only floating text would appear. They were saying stuff like; "My player was *so* stupid he was in danger of hurting himself!" and "We're the characters from Fallout 1!" A guy also said "look at the muscles of this skin! It's rediculous!"

So? Am i the only one who's seen this, or is it common knowledge?

It is (just) a "special encounter" - Remebering (a tribute to - if you will ) Fallout 1.

IIRC the other persons talk about stuff from Fallout 1.

In that Cafe you will find a dog, if you approch him in your vault suit he will take a likeing to you. (I belive that is how)
That dog is Dogmeat - one of "your" most trusted compainions in Fallout 1.

heh, i love that place. it appaers randomly on the map, sometimes in different places in the same game - although i didn't pick up dogmeat, which might explain it - but the comments are wonderful

On the floor in the diner you find a little laser gun... It's VERY good. It has unlimited ammo at daytime, but at night it uses ammo. It's called Solar Scorcher.

IIRC don't you have to give Dog Meat a piece of dired meat? I think that's how I got him...

Me, too. It constitutes an act of kindness that cements his friendship.

Yeah - you are prolly right - I just seem to remember you have to do it in your Vault suit or something.

It was that way you got Dogmeat in Fallout - by feeding him (iirc)

dang - have to play it again.

Well, in Fallout you got him by wearing a Leather Jacket in front of him. Because hos last owner wore a Leather Jacket, it's taken from a movie with Mel Gibson.

@Mikael, i think the Solar Scorcher is found in the special encounter, where you find a portal that will take you 80 years back in time, to Vault 13...
