I have seen the videos on the dog, and my answer is a whole hearted yes. The advantages that the dog brings will be quite handy in the game.

i beleive the dog is a good idea but the obvious ranting about cats that is going to follow i beleive will be a pain

firstly cats are small and couldnt beat a hob

secondlly if u bring up the tiger or other big cat were talking about normal household breeds hense the golden retrever and not a wolf

and thirdly the loyalty of a cat compared to a dog is just that uneven it seems to just rule cats straight out

ok i guess what im trying to say is yes the dogs are a good idea and if u want cats instead think rashtionally

Or, maybe you could just tell it to stay... for months on end.

But back on topic, I really agree there should be a dog in Fable 2. At least it will provide another aspect to the game other than all the senseless killing.

From my studies, dogs are very much a mythical beast, from jackles to wolves, been around from the start of time itself, and for those that do not know there will be a dog in fable 2,there is, and it is done right,go to lion head studio and watch the clips, 6 in all good stuff.

Dogs hog my attack space.

I don't care how good the AI is. I like to attack without worring about hitting-on allies. I liked to walk down a road in the original Fable, and, not looking at my map, geting a sword in the back of my neck before I relieve i'm under attack. Then, after I slaughter those S.O.B.s, I kill everyone in the closest village and....... um widdow myself

In Fable, the targeting is decent enough to avoid hitting friendlies (let alone even affect them) so it is possible to introduce a dog if the combat system remain unchanged in Fable 2. Not unlike some RPG where the targeting is all out of whack where you 'can' accidentally target and hit a friend instead of the enemy.

Does anyone know if the dog can be hurt/take damage?

In one sense, it'd be kind of stupid if it couldn't. But it'd also be nice if the dog was to be a game-long companion for you and unable to die.

I'm thinking it'd be a good idea to make the dog unable to die, but to be able to take damage and after having taken so much that it goes unconscious and wakes up only after the fighting is over, with low health. I will be annoyed if the dog just runs into the midst of a bunch of enemies and gets itself killed or even hit by my own attacks and I end up having to keep reloading to keep it from dying.

I think the dog is an awesome idea. Sounds like wicked fun, but I hope they opt for the going unconscious rather than dying.

I think that the dog is a good idea because of the way it works as a scout for you... This makes it realistic as you don't have a little mini map in the corner of your vision in real life (at least I don't) I think that the fact that it is a dog could bring some disrepute as we have seen, I think that it works as if you had a companion who could sense enemies without endangering its life- the most logical form that companion would be a dog. I think that the alternative would be a person... but that would be extremely annoying just imagine it:

"There are five hobs ahead hero!"

mmmmmmmmmm ok

"Watch out hero theres a Rock golem ahead!"

this persons annoying!

"Oh its your rival from back in the day -"

Ok thats the last straw! Time to kill this complete @#$%^*

"You know the one who used to - AAAAAAAARGH GOD WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT"

*evil laugh*

anyways, I see their train of thought, A common guide would be a person or an animal, a person would talk too much or even if that person was a mute they would be a nusience - should be an animal then whats the best kind of animal guide - oh its a dog! A dog might be the worst kind of animal but it works in the context the best as a guide.

the dog is going to be sweet its hard for me to explain why cos it wud take me ages but basicly it helps you find treasure it attacks the enemy that has the biggest advantage like if you are wielding a sword and theres an enemy with a gun the dog will go for it and plus you can play tricks with your dog and terach it new ones n get balls for it n plus the dog is cool and it morphs to suit your character
