Playing on after finishing the game!?!?!?

Just finished Fable.

Tried doing the ending 'both ways' (don't worry... no spoilers :-).

Got all my lovely juicy experience, renown and money from the Quest...

Finally maxed out my Physique, Health, Toughness and Speed...

But can I play on????

NO!

Why @&%$£ not???

I checked a review and it states:

"As we’ve been told, you can continue to play Fable after the story quests are completed, but there are no additional quests given and there are even a few key areas that you’ll no longer have access to. Therefore, the post-story gameplay is a rather mundane experience in which you can continue to trade, battle enemies, and interact with people, but there is no real purpose in doing so. Yes, you can also continue to gain experience and level-up your character, but again, with no additional bosses or quests, this becomes a bit tedious and boring."

While I can accept the man's reservations, I would still like to take a look at Albion now I've finished the story quests.

Has anyone else finished the game?

My only save is at a point during the final stages of the story that does not allow me to leave the Heroes Guild.

Please tell me if you have found a way of carrying on playing.

I am gutted.

Yes, you can keep playing. Simply wait through the ending credits and you'll find yourself back in the final chamber with all your pending side quests still ready to go (and you can accept more in the Heroes' Guild if you want).

I don't want to give away any spoiler information, but I finished the game twice so far and it's a lot easier to play after the "conclusion" with an evil character. You'll be considerably more powerful... sort of =).
