Newbie question, new to xbox - Opening doors

Can someone kindly tell me how to open doors on the xbox console while playing fable. Please be specific. There are many buttons on the xbox controller.

for most games on the XBOX to interact with things such as doors, you press the A (green) BUTTON

right side of controller

note: if it highlights, but will not open - the door may be locked or just game glitch

At night time in Fable most of the doors close on shops and houses. The only way to open them is to Pick the lock (you have to earn that skill) or break the door down.
