I haven't managed to finish the game yet, so i have a question if there's a door worth picking in the whole story.

Nope, the game will do just fine without lockpicking.

One anyway is bound to end up with the skill eventually, so it's shame it's useless

Well, I isnt realy useless.
Lets say you want to robe Bowerstone. No weapons allowed to no way to fight of the guards realy..
Hitting in a door will get you 150 Bounty righ away.. lockpicking it and sneaking in undetected will allow you to freely steal anything.

There's nothing in Bowerstone one couldn't steal with much lower guile than it's necessary to get the lockpick expression
