I don't believe you can.

You can't backstab and you only have one type of arrow, also there are no flash bombs and the like.

The best I managed was to snipe with a bow and use the "Multiple Strike" instead of a backstab.

not exactly like thief -deadly shadows, but i mean is it possible to be a thief at all in fable? any form of thief? im getting sick of the constant combat, it seems its the only thing you do in the game besides sell and buy things. will is completely combat, no matter what you say (besides healing and defense ^_*) and strength is obviously combat, and skill is still combat based, the speed and accuracy. and guile is more or less still buying or selling. why would you ever sneak? in conclusion i think this game is awesome yes, but terrible gameplay in itself. you do quests to get money, you fight to get experience, and you simply buy or sell things. this game has no fun in it only because you do nothing but get drunk, imo.

Guile will give you steal ability at lvl 3 and lock picking at lvl 6. Then you can pick your way into shops and homes. Use of these abilities is considered evil so plan accordingly.

The assasin's suit topped with the bandit cap makes for a passable ninja outfit.
