the hollow level 2?

has/does anyone else have trouble getting to the hollow level 2? this is my 4th party and i still can not get there. i go through the hollow level 1 fine. i give the password and it says to proceed (or whatever the spirit says). i continue forward and BLAM. i'm on the over world map
i made sure i had no other quests to do and as i said, i had the password. what gives?
anyone else have this problem? or am i just cursed

i've even tried another copy of the game. do you have to be evil or something?

Don't give the password to the door. Instead, go straight to the second level.

it's kinda deciving with the entrance/exit and the entrance to the secound lev. hehe so dark and spooky.oooooo!
