| | | Psionics...anyone use them? Does anyone use psionics at all? When I played, I used one and got around 7th level with him. Although the powers tend to get confusing trying to to keep up with what they do, they are fun to play.

| | psionics I used to run a wizard/psionicist in a former 2nd edition party and loved it. However, since that party has since disbanded, I've had to find other groups to play with. And, since that time, I've not encountered one DM who was willing to accept characters into his campaigns who used psionics. I can only say that since they don't understand the mechanics of it, they fear it'll overpower their games. I'm not sure. Whatever their cases, I miss the class. My poor wizard/psionicist is bored to tears. |

| | I've recently played a psychic warrior. About my dm, he accepts any class/character I make as long as I meet him before the game with a character sheet, class description and a *written* biography where all the stats of my character are well explained... and some fresh beer of course! |

| | | I haven't played AD&D in a LONG time, but I remember most of the rules and stuff.
Our DM was pretty strickt. The only thing that he did that I didn't like was make crap up instead of writting it down.
It was very fun, but there were a few times where it seemed he was just being stupid with him authority!
Anyone else interested in playing AD&D again? I have already posted something like this under the same sections, but why not here! I live in Allentown, PA, so if anyone is in the area, I would like to at least TRY to get a game going. Oh, and by the way, I'm not really that good as a DM.

| | | Yo, a psionisist is good, but sometimes needs a few body-gaurds for protection. Once my psionisist was betrayed by an NPC theif, I used molecular agitation to burn his skin away......... VERY grizzly

| | | I tried one under AD&D rules. The game wasn't really designed with psionics in mind in the first place, so it became very unbalanced at high levels (sucked at low levels, though). Defenses against magic are pretty common, but psionics was something entirely different. There was almost no stopping it.
Not sure how 3E handles it. Probably better. |

| | I had a character who loved to be a psionic. I remember a psionicist could get disintegration fairly easily and that character (not high level) made a hole through the 'big boss' I'd planned for an adventure. Ruined my fun!
I never got to use the mind challenge between two psionicists - that was the most difficult thing to grasp with psionic powers. I always let my players roll for wild psionic talents, too and a player once managed to roll 1% and get a control air or sound power.
Overall, psionics IMO were a 'refreshing' class because they were so different from yon mage or cleric. |

| | | I played a campaign (3E) with a party member who was a Psion. He was attacked, alone, by three killer halflings (I know, I know), while sleeping. He awoke with one holding a mace over his head about to crunch him. His immediate response was to grab onto his.... er... you know, and squeeze. Well, that one was out for a while. He then proceeded to do something like a phantasmal killer on another one, killing him. The psion then took this opportunity to hit the same halfling as before in the same area, and then killed the third with a crossbow. He then smashed a morningstar into the small of the first halfling's back. THEN he stood up, and said to the barely conscious halfing "Bet you feel stupid now, huh", and broke his head.

| | | I had a character with a wild talent once... Clairvoyance! Biggest plot-killer in the game. It takes a well-prepared DM to properly deal with a character that can look through doors and walls multiple times per day. |

| | As far as I can remember... ...using psionics tended to be not so fun for the others who don't use psionics because of excessive time consumed by the psionicist. Afterall psionice battles are done in segments as opposed to your normal round. So while you battle things out with the DM, your partymates just sit around, bored, while you finish business. |

| | | psionics are much more balanced in 3ed, although our psion was overpowered, I think it was just the fact he was a vampire that caused that. |
