| | | oh i am so confused... i cannot decide what i want my character to be and it is driving me crazy. for most of my gaming career i have played as a paladin of Torm. i find the paladin to be a little too strict and dont agree with many of their veiw points. i have tried playing a barbarian which is a lot like me. when i am losing a match or a fight or something my lack of skill compared to the other guy makes me angry and i go a "little" psycho. i love the martial arts and have played a monk quit a bit. i absolutly hate full plate armor, for several reasons, i just dont like carrying a lot of weight no matter how strong i am. and like the monk i wud rather rely on my own strength and power then that of equipment. so i was thinking maybe a barbarian who uses his fists but didnt see a reasonable way to do that with a mix of classes and skills and such.
what i wud most want my character to be like is if anybody has seen the TV show Yu Yu Hakusho, or a over-powered analogy that more may be familiar with : Dragon Ball Z

| | | Do you mean you have a new PC and want to develop something different to your usual style? I'm a little confused at what you are trying to say, sorry dude.
If you want something new, then go a arcane spell caster. Or try a non-combat orientated PC. I played a Bard/Cleric once, who worshiped the elvish goddess of love (I forget the name) and refused to "do" combat. She was a lot of fun to play. Had a diplomacy skill of 20+ at 12th level (for a total of 33 before a dice roll).
If you really want to try something new, play something other than DnD. Check out the dozens of RPGs available.
Cheers dude,
TGHO

Although you have confused me again - you say that "i cannot complete games" - do you mean computer games, or pen and paper games? I can't see how you could not complete a PnP game even if all you played were fighter types... Are you talking about computer games here?
As for different flavours of fighter-types, have you tried a Dex based swashbuckler? What about a missile specialist, like a Deepwood Sniper? Or a rogue/archer mix? Fighters don't always have to be melee based.
And why do you hate spellcasters?
Cheers,
TGHO

| | | Why did you play a paladin of Torm for most of your gameing career if you don't agree with most of their points of view and you want a less restricted character?
Based on this I'd say that a barbarian is a good choice for you, perhaps a ranger. A monk is a good option if you like to travel light but a monk is also very restricted due to it's believes.

| i am a melee character and have never liked usin a bow. my best freind is an Arcane Archer so i hold the line and he shoots from the back. Quote: |

| too limited i think it is bull that a mage has to work so hard for so little. almost every creature worth fighting in many games have SR... Quote: |

| i am extremely lawfullgood and have a high moral code, but it just seems dumb to me to smite ALL evil and i bacame a fallen paladin when i granted an evil person mercy cuz i didnt have the heart to kill him. yes i am a pansy, but i felt sympathy for him .Torm rules he is my patron deity, and another prob is would he want a barbarian (who typically are not obediant, loyal, have a sense of duty etc) as a follower? | yea i have never seen a dm take monk beleifs into veiw.
and another thing, it says paladins have a set of rules to follow and monks do too, but where can we ever veiw such a list to see what is ok for them and what is not?

| | | A barbarian can be loyal and obidiant, but in it's own way. He doesn't care about rules but he can follow Torm, he simply doesn't get any spells from him as he is no clreic or paladin.
There are no standard rules to follow for a monk, other then it has to be lawfull good, but lawfull is objective.
A monk can follow the rules of his cult and not care about laws in a country. He follows his own believes, aka the cult's believes.
If he enters a country where slavery is legal, the he is not supposed to support that rule simply because it's the law.

Ah, okay, we're talking about PC games. Now I know where you are coming from. I'm assuming you're playing the NWN series, from what you have said previously. Cleric/Fighters don't necessarily use attack spells, they can concentrate on buffing spells. Maybe you could try one of those.
Cheers,
TGHO

No doubt in my mind.

| | | I would say barbarian as well, and there are fewer people that I know who play Barbies too so that makes it even cooler.
