| | | Newest Editions I just started getting into D&D and since I started my first campaign, I want to learn how to DM myself... I know I need the monster manual, dugeon master's guide, player's guide and the Forgotten Realms Campaign books. I just don't know which edition is the newest... 3.5 I know but does anyone know the copyright dates? (I'm getting them on ebay/half.com and they never mention the actual edition just the dates) |

| | 3.5 is DEFINITELY the newest. I'm not sure if we'll see 4th Edition (and if so, when).

| | | If we do see 4th Edition, I hope against all hopes that the current crop of writers are dead or eaten by a dragon. These guys are dreadful.
3.5 is the newest, although personally I would suggest buying 3.0 books, as 3.0 is slightly less problematic.
Cheers,

| | | I'm probably going to use 3.5... though it's a bit harder to find. However does anyone know the copyright dates of the books? As I said few sellers actually tell if it is 3.5 or 3.0 so I'm trying to go on the dates. |

| | | 2003 is going to be when most of the 3.5 stuff came out. The 3.0 stuff came out in 2001 or earlier. (That's for core rules, anyway, not accessories or extras.)
Cheers,
TGHO

| | Another good way to find out when things came out is to check the years and which brand they are from w/ Wizards of the Coast's book section here.
Just select the brand, the year, and then click on any books categorized under the 'accessory' and 'Core Game Product' types.
You'll find the 'Core Game Product' types for 3.5 in Core D&D 2003, for instance.

Of course, this assumes the secondhand sellers are using the correct cover image...
If you're looking for a setting, you might want to consider the Kingdoms of Kalamar campaign setting.

| Ah.... thanks but I think I'm going to stick to Forgotten Realms. I've played other campaign settings (like dragonlance >>) and have found forgotten realms my favorite because I identify with it more. I'm thinking of trying oberran though... I'll wait and see. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
