feats and maneuver

hey everyone, Last monday i got TOB for my birthday and i have read through it once and have skimmed it several times and my question is which feats can you combine with maneuvers?

From TOB page 43
"Because Strikes allow for a specific form of attack, you cannot benefit from spells or effects that grant you extra attacks when making a strike (such as haste spell or a speed weapon). you are not taking a full action when you initiate a strike, even if its initiation is full-one round action. In addition, you cannot combine special attacks such as sunder or bull rush with strikes, even if you have feats that make such special attacks more of potent."

i understand I cant use cleave and improved trip and disarm beacuse the extra attack and how the bonus would stack; however i was wondering how that effects weapon focus feat tree, power attack, combat experties, and dodge.
the reason i ask here and not my DM is that i only see him on game day and I dont like to delay the game with a lot of questions. And if he does not know the rule off the top of his head he will just state his opion and that then becomes the rule, however if you show confidence in the rule and just act upon it he will usally let you by with that game and then will check during the next week for its acurcy and if you did it wrong he will impose a xp penaty on you that week.

thanks for you help

thanks agin for help a noob

once again thanks for the help every on

I would say bonuses from focus and specialization counts, but expertise and power attack are out because they are "special" attacks also. Dodge is, however, not tied to your weapon so that should still work.

Remember, if you have a Feat or Special Ability that you have to choose to use to change your attack, then that won't work with the maneuvers in ToB. Anything that is passive however, or does not depend on the attack/weapon, is fine. Essentially you're choosing a Diamond Nightmare Blade vs Expertise attack or Power Attack.

Hope that helps

Power Attack, Expertise and the like DO count for manouvres. They aren't "special attacks" at all and can be used whenever the strike would require a melee attack roll. It's stated nowhere that they don't apply. In several places, however, there's mention of them being used together. Check out the Discipline weapon enhancement in the back. It specificly says that you can use PA and such with a strike, boost or counter.
There is one exception to the "no extra attack while using a strike." Time Stands Still, Diamon Mind 9. It allows for two subsequent Full-Attack actions, benefing from extra attacks.
Both of these questions have been answered on the Wizards-site, so check there if you don't believe me.

On a sidenote: Try combining Time Stands Still with dualwielding and the Combat Rythm option from the Stormguard Warrior tactical feat.

I am in the same boat as you, there are no errata out afaik. However, the Character Optimization forum board does have alot, and alot more info than you will ever need. Go check that out, but not everything is "canon" rules, some bend the words.

The rules bending is only in Theoretical Optimization. The regular CO is fine.
I know, searching the site of Wizards can be a pain. Moreover, asking Customer Service isn't a solution, since they provide 4 different answers to a single question.
Your best bet is to ask at the Classes-board. That's what I do. Ofcourse, asking here is an option as well, but there's fewer people around.
