Well, it seems a lot of people really like the idea. all we really need is a reliable chat/board to use.

Y'all can count me in. I may even be able to help find a forum for it (if Buck Satan won't host it here, ).

I am trying to get back into the D&D experience by getting into an online game. I have read through the 3rd Ed. rules and think I have a vague grasp of them, but obviously need to play a game to really understand. I have created a character (Dwarven Fighter) who is pretty solid. I have access to the Internet pretty much full time so I can respond to situations often to help keep thegame moving along. If anyone can help find me a home, I would be most appreciative.

Well the IRC client mIrc has always been good in my book.
I don't like ICQ much and don't think it would be good for this either.

I could DM some, I think I actually have a few modules still around that aren't too bad. They are 2nd edition though. I am not familiar yet with 3e rules.

It seems we have alot of interested players (me included ). DM'ing a huge party would be quite a challenge.

This sounds promising. So how many people are in? And what's our best option for a place to play? Just a regular chat room? It would be really cool if we could get a game going. Should we post characters or something?

Well if we use mIRC, we could all just connect to the same sever, and create a temporary chatroom just for us

I would also like to join in, eventhough I have no PnP RP experience, if people don't mind, I'd like to get some PnP experience (or something similar) before NwN

So whatya guys say - should we make characters after D&D 2.ed for starters, I'd say that most of us, knows a little about these from BG/BG2
But that would properly be up to the DM.

Would it not be better to go for 3e since that's what NWN is based on.

Just a thought...

I would also prefere 3.ed, but if we haven't got anybody that can DM such a session, well...

Agreed! If we can find a 3ed DM then I would want to go that way, but if all we have is 2ed, then so be it...

Before I stick my neck too far out here...

Let me do some checking to see if I can DM this (2nd e).

Let's see if we can get some consensus on times. Let's use Eastern Standard (US) time. When would people be available?

I am unsure how quickly I can get a game going based on the amount of time it will take to write out narratives. It is sooo much easier to talk as opposed to type.

Is Forgotten Realms a suitable world?

What level does everyone want to start at? beginning, middle, high?

Obviously this would be a long game. I can probably commit to 2-4 hours per week, and it would probably have to be on the weekends.
( I could commit more time, but my wife might leave me....oohhh, then I would have lots of free time.)

(I can be available for short times during the week day, as I am at work, but could answer general dm type questions.)

Well, lets see what the response is, and I'll see what I can come up with.

I don't know that you need to get everybody on-line at the same time. The way a lot of online games run is that users get online and post their actions as they can. It means that you are only making a move or two a day, but it also means you are only devoted 10-15 minutes a day. This slows the game considerably (from a PnP, all-in-the-same-room game), but really doesn't mean much less action (per weeek) than a 2-4 hour weekend session and it is much more flexible.

Just some thoughts.

AIM would be the logical choice for AD&D online in chat.

To roll dice in a chat room(only works in the AIM chat rooms, doesn't work in IM windows), type //roll to roll 2D6. You merely add to it to change the number of dice and number of sides on each die.

//roll-dice1-sides1 = 1D1 (this is the minimum you can set it at)

//roll-dice15-sides999 = 15D999 (this is the maximum)

you just change the numbers that follow "dice" and "sides" to change the number of dice rolled and how many sides they have.

BTW, I might be interested in playing online AD&D like this, but someone would have to teach me how. The most I've done playing AD&D is play BG1 and IWD.

Cool

I found this site about six months ago (yes, I've been holding back!)
System Reference Document
It has most rule stuff for 3eDnD (I also happen to have the Monster Manual)
We can also use this site:
Creature Catalogue
In order to add more creature and unique creatures.
I'd really like to play. But only 3e, I've read most of these documents and, what can I say? I wanna play.
