Post dual and multi-classing in 3rd edition

I was just wondering that in 2nd edition, when you dual class, you are only given a kit in your first class and have to dual to a generic class, do you get a kit in your second class as well if you dual?

Also, in 2nd edition, when you multi-class, you are not allowed any kit. Does that change in 3rd edition?

Cool

Eeh, just forget everything you ever knew about multi/dual classing. It is completely revisited.

In 3e when you level up you can choose if you want take another level of your major class or if you want take something else. Let's say you are a level 2 fighter. Next time you level up you can choose to become a level 3 fighter OR you can take a level in some other class like cleric. Then you are a level 3 character with 2 class levels in fight and one in cleric. Next time you level up you can choose another fighter level OR another cleric level OR something else.

There are no kits per se. Instead you choose 'Feats' and 'Skills' to customize your character. There are also something called prestige classes that you can take like any other class-level.
