Character Bank

This is just a thought that crossed my mind. With the amount of ideas that seem to kick around this forum, I thought it could be benficial to create a character bank. Essentailly, a place to go, post a 1st level creation of yours, ready to play. Might give other people some nice inspiration, as well as showing off some nice concepts.

Any takers?

I've been considering getting into playing if I could find people to play with, so yes, I think it'd be a good thing to give me some ideas of where to start with character creation at least.

We need some ground rules for what you are using though. For example, you have to note all the books you used. Also, you need to use either a standard point buy or just note the order of priority for ability scores. If you post suggested equipment don't post more gp value than starting cash for that class(either min or max, or both). Of course, Aegis would have the final say as to what would be the rules. Those are just my suggestions.

I don't actually play level 1 characters at the moment. In fact, not for the last two years or so. I do have a lot of high(er)-level characters that I can post.

Well, there is no need for restrictions, as many DM's allow for different systems of abilities. The most common, I'd imagine, would probably remain as the point buy, though.

As for the reasoning behind level one characters, is that they could be taken as a base premise, and then progressed individually, rather than already have a pre-made 10th level character. Not only that, but it makes it that much simplier to post up here

From what I take of your post, I get that you are thinking of a online d&d session?
If so, this isn't what Aegis is thinking off.

He's thinking of a topic to post character idea's in, right?

Not an online DnD session, though that would be cool, just some standardisation. Although it would probably be okay to just list the rules you went by so there is no confusion. I'll post one in a little while. Gotta check the rest of my threads first.

You gave him too many skill points there, Jop. With a -1 modifier to INT, his initial skill amount would be (4+(-1))x4 which comes to 12, not 16

Hmmm, interesting idea, but I find coming up with a new 1st level character pretty quick, stats wise. I'm a lot more interested in the background - the roleplaying - of the character than the number crunching.

That Barbarian Jop posted - no name, no details. Who is he or she? Where are they from? How do they fit into the world/land/lore? What do they want? Etc., etc.

Just as a note, if I am GMing, I don't do dice rolling or point buying for character gen. I say to my players "take any numbers you want - within reason (no PCs with six 18s). Just give me background."

Cheers,
TGHO

Well, the reason I didn't put any background was so the character could be taken to any campaign. Maybe I'll put some background in though. Dwarven Barbarians are not very common. You really should try WoD if you like straight RPing with little numbers.

Question Some questions concerning this thread...

1) By first-level, can that include an applicable Level Adjustment et al, or are we/you only looking for characters that starts and levels as a 1st-level character? If almost anything (with rules for this certain thread applying) counts, then I suppose I could contribute pretty well.

2) I was wondering if the Forgotten Realms and Eberron forums could use their own versions of this thread for characters more encircling their material, particularly character/creature feats specific to those settings. Still, how well those would take off is questionable, especially with how dead the FR forum is as of lately?
As much as some FR stuff may get posted in this forum without a problem (particularly if such is a snippit that may involve core D&D as a whole), I'd prefer to try and use the FR forum for FR stuff as much as possible.

That's about all I have on my mind.
