Exclamation Advices

We are about to start a campaign on DnD and I am still hesitating whether to play with a race that has LA or not. I have stopped on the Orog (deep orc).

Do you think it's too powerful? If it is do you think if I make it LA-3 would be balanced. And if possible you can give advices for races up to LA-2.

First off, just to let you know, it's illegal to post specific statistics of monsters, characters, races, items, spells, or anything not within the open source handbook, so I would suggest that you simply edit out that post and reference what book it's in (I know the book it's in, and most people who even simply play the game more than likely also have that book).

As for any creature with an LA. Depends on the level you're starting at, but no matter what level you start at, Orog is just by far one of the dumbest concepts for a race I've ever seen.

Elf, frail but agile. Deep Elf, even more agile, not as frail.
Gnome, Sturdy but small. Deep Gnome, still small but even sturdier.
Orc, strong but not the best with people, Orog, strong and REALLY good with people.

That makes no sense how it works whatsoever. Just my opinion that is. Stats wise, it's balanced, roleplayable wise though, it's dumb.

So siberys I respct your oppinion but can u explain why do u think Orog is a dumb race, and after that suggest a race ( I am going to play fighter-wizard ) I used to play hound archon but I think that race is too powerful and a little bit imbalanced. My Dm/Gm said race up to LA - 2
And what do you mean by good with people -sth more particular

Good with people, the + to charisma that an Orog gets. Charisma is appearence and coherency when socializing with people, which doesn't make sense for any kind of orc. Stereotypically speaking, orcs are corrupted elves who not only hate elves, they hate everybody and everything except for themselves and honestly, Dungeons and Dragons is the only thing in the world where stereotyping is a good thing.

Hound Archons are also rather balanced, in fact playing one is actually rather weak, not too powerful. You did add in the racial hit dice when you played it before right, because they should start out at like 11th level before they even reach a class.

well I didn't add the HD cuz my DM didn't tell me too and I didn't knew that I had to. NOw after 2 years have passed since our last game he tells me that I have to add HD to LA. and I was thinking of rearraning the stats of the orog as in one of the books says that it's possible to make some minor changes in races and classes. so now that u mentioned the chat I am thinking of removing the bonust cha and putting it on int as their histori says that there are very little sorcerers but powerful indeed.

Thanxx for ur oppinion
