What's your party build?

Hi everyone! I was just wondering what builds other people have tried for their characters, and how well they have worked.

Here's the builds that I have planned for my chars (with 100 levels, and all bonus points added in, for an estimated total of 127 points per char):

Serai - Combat Mage (Lightning)
Brilliance 19 (+1 point from Elf race)
Devastation 20
Debilitation 20
Amplified Lightning 20
Quickened Casting 14
Arcane Fury 14
Arcing 20

Lothar - Fighter (Sword & Shield)
Fortitude 18 (+2 points from Half-Giant race)
Critical Strike 20
Barricade 20
Toughness 20
Reinforced Armor 20
Rebuke 9
Deadly Strike 20

Deru - Ranger (Bows & Crossbows)
Critical Shot 20
Dodge 19 (+1 point from Dryad race)
Biting Arrow 20
Survival 20
Far Shot 8
Shockwave 15
Penetrate 5
Mortal Wound 20

Taar - Nature Mage (Ice, Buffing, & Healing)
Natural Bond 19 (+1 point from Dryad race)
Aquatic Affinity 20
Enveloping Embrace 14
Arctic Mastery 20
Feral Wrath 14
Nurturing Gift 20
Freezing 20

When I get access to Ressa and Yoren (I'm playing with Broken World), I will probably add them to my party so that I can have a Fist of Stone and a Blood Assassin as well.

So far, I'm level 36 and my party is kicking serious tail. It's nice having one party member of each class because I can use most of the cool loot that I find. But I am thinking about trying a different type of party, like a bunch of nature mages or archers, just for the fun of it. Or I might try soloing, for a real challenge.

What's a good build for a Blood Assassin or a Fist of Stone?

That reminds me. . .

What's a good build for a Blood Assassin or a Fist of Stone? I haven't tried either yet, so I don't know what works for them. I would probably use the Fist of Stone as my defensive tank (and switch Lothar's specialization to 2-handed fighting), and use the Blood Assassin as a thrown-weapon ranger (I'm not sure if I would like thrown weapons or not, but they look interesting).

Anybody have any ideas, advice, or suggestions?

Thanks,
Stormcaller

Hello Stormcaller and welcome to the forums. Just a little note. Try not to double post as there is a pretty handy edit button to avoid that. Thanks.

Well, any party classes can work, you just need to develop the tactics. Your build seems pretty much the standard, and what the programmers were thinking of when making the game.

That said, I'll also mention the conversations from previous posts, in that taking a skill to Level 20 is not always the best course. There comes a point where that extra 0.5% doesn't really make a difference when you have items that add 15-20%.

Spread the skill points around. Look at charts and determine where the "max yield" ends. Using skill points in other areas will open up whole new worlds for your tactics as well.

As for BA or FoS builds, I can't help. Never much cared for them over "pure builds" so have never really focused on them enough. My current campaign is a solo character leveling up equally in all four classes.

The game is practically open-end so its a bit hard to define exact numbers, but only general directions. Like High/Medium/Low number of points to aim for.

mines are:

----
MainChar, Fighter, Sword&Board
- generic skills distribution
- lvl3 brutal attack
- lvl3 provoke
- lvl3 Whirling Strike

----
Lothar, Fighter, 2H sword
- generic skills distribution
- lvl3 brutal attack
- lvl3 War Cry

----
Taar, Nature mage
specialized in buffs, Grasping Vine and healing
-Natural Bond 5
-Aquatic Affinity high
-Enveloping Embrace high
-Nurturing Gift medium
-Arcane Renewal, medium
-Absorption 20
-lvl3 Invulnerability

----
Deru, Nature mage
specialized in summons, Grasping Vine and healing
-Natural Bond 5
-Aquatic Affinity, high
-Summon Fortitude/Might high
-Nurturing Gift, medium
-Arcane Renewal, medium
-Summon Bond 20
-lvl3 Summon Provoke
-lvl3 Aether Blast
-lvl1 Invulnerability
Might get some lvls of combat later, for summon and casting skills.

This party is pretty good early on with plenty of healing and double invulnerability. And beginning with lvl34 it starts to really kick some serious arse. With their defenses up the mages practically never die. So do fighters. In fact, Lothar here dies the most.

dual wield is only good cos of the bugged power so im not using it. Combat mage is totally weak, so not using it either. Ranger is not unique enough to get a place. AddOn classes sound way too complicated to play, and since default classes are becoming very strong anyways there is not much reason to play the addon classes as well. ( all imho ofc)

Solo-combat mage, death focus, would need to see my char to know the exact skill layout but im pretty sure less then half of my total points are in combat magic, i have plenty in fighter, nature, and even archery. And after BW, in blood assassin and FoS.

Basically built to survive anything, be totally self-sufficient, and still dish out legendary CM damage. And look damn good while doing it, of course.
