Problem Running DS2 with vista

Hey Guys

I have a copy of DS2 i got a few years ago, and a couple months back my PC died, so I got a new laptop and it came with vista on it.

I re-installed DS2 on this computer and use a no cd crack. I can get the game to load up and as i start picking the race and other physical attributes of my character, it shuts down on me.

Is this a problem anyone else has with vista and is there a way to fix it?

Welcome to the forums aherpo01.

This seems to be more of a tech problem. My guess would be that your new laptop doesn't have the sufficent memory space necessary to run DS2. That is mainly because to run vista alone, your comp needs at least 2GB of memory, and that doesn't leave alot more for games.

i have 3g of memory, that should be more than enough

Did you try the game without the crack? And with the patches installed?

what patches are you talking about, and where do i find them?

oh, and i let a buddy borrow the cd so i cant get that untill tomorrow or the next day

so i installed the patch, used the cd, tried re-installing the game and using the cd, using the crack, no matter what i do, i still cant play and there is a window that pops up saying "Exception Detected" and it claims that it is gathering exception data, then it shuts the program down. any ideas?
