help with puzzle

I rescued Merik now I am looking for his staff. I went into the caverns with the ice crystal things and went down into the dungeon where you have to use coins to weigh down the pressure plates. I went down to what seems to be the bottome where in one of the chests you get a big eye pearl thing. Is there another portion to this dungeon, if so how do I get further or if this the bottom then it seems I need to backtrack. Help Please

Meriks staff is a long way from there in the goblit tower. This tower is in the swamp.

The item you call a pearl thing is a fury eye. But keep it because its used in the ds online game. Of course you also kept the knife from the begining of the single game. The last item you need is at the end of multigame online game.
