total noobit here after a little character help

Okies like title states im new to this game and the manual wasnt very helpful when it comes to info on character classes and advancements, found most my info on this website so anyway what i would like to know is

i would like to play as a valkyrie hunter then rangerlord(not sure if that will work but i like poles and bows) it says you can be 2 tier 1 classes 2 tier 2 classes and 1 tier 3 class but to get 2 tier one classes it says you need to join another guild but sisterhood has no tier 1 class, do i start as a fighter join the guild of mystery and then join the sisterhood?

any tips info help would be great thanks

Starting as a fighter is fine, you get a learning bonus for weapons, shields and armor and also although not widely known) parry. Parry is useful as it will help you dodge your enemies blows. However, you may also want to think about starting as an Adept. Adepts receive learning bonuses for armor, shield and celestial magic and also can use magic weaponry. Celestial magic is useful for healing and some other mostly defensive spells. The Purify spell is especially good as it cures poison. Most spells are sold to guild members only. So you could go either way:

fighter/rogue valkyre/hunter rangerlord
adept/rogue valkyre/hunter rangerlord

One thing to keep in mind is I had a tough battle to become a Ranger Lord and afterwards checked the walkthrough and found it completely inaccurate. Not that it should deter you, but something to keep in mind.

*edit* Don't even bother with the manual too much...online sources such as Gamebanshee are superior.

(and welcome to the forums too )

ok thanks for your info just one more question

how does your first class effect your character? does it just give you learning bonus's or if you picked a fighter to start with are you able to tank slightly better than a rogue or is every class the same to start with its just your skills that define your abilities ?

oh and hi *waves*

*waves* nice to have another female around.

Your first tier class affects learning bonuses as you mention, but also your path of advancement. A fighter for example has several options open to them for second tier classes, such as knight, marauder, or they can add Eastern House second tier classes that are fighter based. For people joining the sisterhood, it doesn't make a whole lot of difference about your first tier but some thought does need to go into it. A fighter valkyrie is good, as is a mage enchantress. It really depends on the path you want to take. Your choice of hunter/valkryie is fine because of the bonus to pole weapons (that you mention you want) plus heavy armor and weapons come with valkyrie. Another good combo for more archery orientated class is adept rogue monk hunter rangerlord. Good stacking bonuses but sadly the really good bows are not available until very late in the game if at ll.

Class information is here and gives descriptions, requirements and learning bonuses.
