Pick Locks Skill Question

I have DLCE 1.5 and noticed that GameBanshee's Gameplay Tips recommend that one not place more than 1 point in the Pick Locks skill unless playing CE. What is it about CE that makes placing more then 1 point in the Pick Locks skill viable or necessary? Just curious, not flamming.

The original Dungeon Lords only had something like two locks that weren't trapped, and in both cases you could use a key to open them. The CE adds a few more locks without traps.

Thanks for responding. I'm wondering if its worth it to boost pick locks just to get into 4-5 chests. Perhaps using bash is better and save those skill points?

I sort of liked the lock-picking mini-game, so I always opened locks that way. I'm not sure that you can bash locks that don't have traps.
