I was looking at the Granny viewer again. I guess that they had planned to add the ninja mask into the game because there is a file for the mask called "ninja_mask_world" but the file that that would allow you to wear one seemed corrupted. I tried swapping it with a helm but it didn't work | Your guy looks great, War-Wiz! I like the assassin "skirt", very cool looking. I know what you mean about the ninja mask, someone asked about that months ago and it seems it is one of those things they started working on but never finished....just like robes for spellcasters. You must have seen those models in the grn model folder too.
Nice job once again.

| | | Some great info re models and such there War-Wiz.
Been mucking around with this and set up a character called Seng Po - Ahn Po's (from Dragon House) long lost brother!
I figure this guy can go through the game with this look. Also since he is a member of the Po family, and has returned to do the job his brother won't do because of running the family business, (see it does belong in this thread) I gave him 5 points in athletics, identify and scout - also did this because of broken game issues and being too impatient to get all the basic moves.
Image attached - and now he's my Avatar.
I tried getting one of my chars to wear an Imperial/dynasty skirt but I can't figure out how you did it. I can see that the game tries to apply the corresponding armor texture to skirts but I can't get it happening. All I get is red or blue skirts (you said rename the armor legging files to generic skirt files) but not the armor look. Could you elaborate on how you did it?
BTW I have replaced the wade move with the walk move - to me it makes walking through water a more confident looking action and of course the pace of the walk is consistent with wading. Also had some fun replacing the look_back move with all sorts; sleep, sit, hands on hips and a few others.
Anyway this has added a whole new dimension to the game so thanks War-Wiz.
Also thanks Kathy for that sporty looking black armor!! As I see it there's two things about these sort of games; the character you build and the character you have to look at, so its nice when both are appealing.
This is my first post. Been reading posts here off and on for a while. So thanks to everyone who's contributed, and especially Seve2d for his editor - it saved one of my games from ending dead in the water due to bug about an incomplete quest.

I didn't do the ninja skirt, thats an NPC. I couldn't get the "short" armour skirts to work. The developers seemed to have abandoned those for the game at some point in the development. I assume they were supposed to be 3D add-ons like helms or shoulder armour (spauldrons). I guess I'll never know for sure The NPCs have them though.
The skirts I did do were for the female characters and I only did a couple. I just took bits and pieces and pasted them on a generic skirt skin. Then replaced an armour file with the modified skirt. It took some trial and error to get it looking okay though.

An Imperial skirt Skirt 05.jpg
There were a couple of other things in the model file I would have liked to have gotten to work but so far have been unable too, War claws or Naga gloves to give a bit of an attack bonus to a character using Ninjitsu since the nether spell dragon claws doesn't work

| | | Thanks for info, feedback and welcome.
When I set up old Seng Po I had two other chars on the go and basically played all three for a while in one session. I noticed a distinct psychological effect from playing Seng Po though - he was much more disciplined in his fighting!!!
So maybe the look of a character offers other advantages to the character you choose to play!
Cheers

| | Okay, let's see whether I can get my image to show up as well... it's a little model (or animation) modding that I did yesterday. Liebe süße Javetta.JPG
uh, somehow the attach tag only works if I really attach an image to my post?

| | | Hairdresser from Hell So this is the place were you show your adventuring snaps and tell the story behind it?
Here's what happened to me recently - check the pic and then read on ...
So I'd heard about this crazy hairdresser, a real queen, that everyone was going to. Well she used old-fashioned cutting and combing tools - I still have scars in my scalp where she used her rather ferocious looking hair brush.
Still she is obviously popular as she hasn't had time to change her loin cloth in many years. Also I suspect the ingredients she uses to bleach hair must be pretty corrosive based on the plate armor she wears.
The four arms were a bit unusual but it certainly made for a much speedier hair job. However having to get into the green pool to have my hair washed was a bit rich, although apparently it is good for the skin.
Incidentally, you have to be very clear about what sort of styling you want; I asked for some lights in my hair - and well I don't know quite what she did there. Anyway they didn't last long but I did feel a bit funny.
The dungeon atmosphere of the place was a bit over the top, it could use some repairs actually - and hard to find! Sheesh! Plus security was a unusually heavy. I guess its the price of fame for hairdressers these days!
She also reads your fortune as her third eye has been implanted with a green crystal of divine prophecy - its affected her eyes unfortunately, plus her forecasts tend to be rather gloomy.
And talk! I guess that is why they call her the Naga Queen - complains about everything, nag, nag, nag. In fact she talks so much that her voice now has a permanent rasp - that's probably why I kept falling asleep. But as soon as I'd fall asleep she'd hit me on the head to wake me up and tell me some more.
All in all I'd recommend her to anyone that is looking for a complete hair make-over - you'll be glad you did it, once you get out of hospital. Even so it was an experience that any good adventurer should have at least once in their life.
Be careful though that you don't go near her old coat - its quite a relic and she's a bit paranoid someone is going to steal it.
And she was right!
Cheers

| | | Family troubles Ahn Po still won't talk to me.
It doesn't matter that we are twin brothers - he just thinks long hair is inappropriate. "Shave your hair off or leave!" he screams.
I was so angry that my mood-meter knife turned red.
I told him our cousin in Arindale has long hair but apparently that is why he was sent to Arindale - he has to live in a town where there are no streets!
I had nearly succeeded in patching things up when he noticed someone had robbed the draw of his cabinet - and he blames ME!
Its a sad day when hair styles become a source of division in a family.
(Okay so I did rob him but I needed some cash to go see this expensive hairdresser down south!)

| | | The saga continues! Good stories Compertz
Seems the Naga Queen (your hair dresser) forgot something when she got dressed that morning
Guess the Po's, Ahn and Seng have a little "sibling rivalry" happening
What did you do in order to get Ahn-Po to show up as himself? If I'm playing with an NPC character like Staroxia and I go to see the real Staroxia she looks like the basemodel, short hair and in her underware Deeva climb 03.jpg
As Deeva finds a vantage point to scan the surrounding area, she thinks to herself, "My what lovely view". Unbeknownst to her though large flying creatures that breathe flame and crush bones with unrelenting fury are just over the next hill, waiting for their next meal. As she watches she listens, and with the wind can hear low pitched grunts and growls. She strains to hear and see where these sounds are coming from. "Only by following the sounds will I be able to find these creatures" she thinks. Slowly, very slowly she is able to discern where these sounds are coming from. Known as the Drake nesting area, to the west of Arindale. "There is a narrow path I must follow to enter the grounds" she remembers. Earlier she was given a quest by Ahn-Po, from the House of Dragon in Fargrove, to collect an egg. "Fat chance that'll Happen" she shouts, as she quickly decends and heads for the moonbridge, Fargrove and a few ales at the Inn with Taluk.

| (Ah ha - my first quote! Yeah I'm a forum newbie!)
Well I did this by not following your instructions!
In your post that put me on to this process you talk about swapping base model with the character you want to make as your main character. Well I just copied Ahn Po in as the basemodel and left the original as he was. I've got the original base model tucked away in a directory full of replacement models and textures. Sort of a Stepford Wives folder.
Obviously its only the hair that has been added and Ahn Po is a great character to set up this way - no see-through model textures etc. Also in the early stages of play, where you build up points and wear nothing to save armor, well Seng Po looks quite respectable!
BTW I've had some fun in the action department changing a couple of behaviors.
First one: I much prefer having my characters do the walk animation through water - and Ahn Po in particular looks great doing this. He looks like serious trouble coming slowly and steadily!
Second one: The drink potion move I replaced this with evade backflip move - you have to get the right potion drink move to swap. Now at first it was just a laugh but I was slow to set things right and so I played with it on for a while. Well it works pretty interestingly. If you can imagine your highly athletic char running along, doing a flip and grabbing a swig of potion on the fly then it sort of makes sense. The timing is still there in terms of the char is still vulnerable and can get hit etc. But if you run from a mob, take a swig, you can actually do a 180 turn in the air and be running back at the mob ready to even the score. Its a great move and makes potion drinking - dare I say - sort of strategic!
I don't know why but you can't do this move - turn and face the other way - using the ordinary backflip. Anyway its fun and adds an extra action dimension to the game. Although I haven't set up Seng Po this way - it seems a little undignified for him.
BTW Is it my imagination or the angle but am I not seeing a certain item of clothing in your pic? I don't want to be too specific without drawing a hungry mass of voyeurs here but do you see what I am not seeing?
AND how come Taluk attracts all these scantily clad women anyway?!! I think maybe I'll have to take over his body and play as him! (Which, as we know, can be done!)
(I'm a but delirious at the moment, up late, have a cold and suffering from over-identification with RPG characters. Damm just did another backflip.)
Cheers

Gonna have to give that a try, thanks Quote: |

| Yup. It's your imagination
She might get alot of looks but she wouldn't get a fine
The angle + the glow effect makes it look like she's nekkid but there is still a little Crimson armour there to keep her legal.
I would never post a nekkid pic

War-Wiz, is that the Crimson armor I made? It has been awhile since I have seen that, my more recent elf girl hasn't found any of that yet. She's still tooling around in chainmail fer cryin' out loud. Why are there no shopping malls in Dungeon Lords???!!

| Actually, that is one of mine. It was more like armour removal instead of armour creation though. Quote:
Why are there no shopping malls in Dungeon Lords???!! | So the female players don't try to run around with a bunch of stuff in their junk inventory they'll never wear and have a single digit bank balance!
Wimmin!

| You've got the wrong time frame Kathy. DL is set in an age where looting dead bodies is the way shopping is done - and you still get to carry around loads of junk but your bank balance is generally a little better than one digit.
Found some new territory this morning AND the edge of the world!!!
Also ran into some ornery critters near the huge wall in the mountains around the Demon land - when you lean up against this wall the sky turns red; had to check what I was drinking when it first happened. Unfortunately I dropped my camera so no snaps of that. However got some great shots of Seng Po 'looking the part' ...
... as cool as the pics look most of the work was done with a little green throwing knife
