Getting back into fargrove

I have completed the elves quest for the armor and am trying to get back into fargrove but it is locked and I can not figure out how to get back in. Looking for some help with this problem.

I return to Arindale and when I go to emmindors tower it doesn't do anything. The elf says my master bids you welcome. I step into the center same as before and nothing happens.

You have to talk again to the guy and click each of the dialogue options, then the elevator will go up

one more fargrove question. How do you open the three treasure chests in the top of devanmore manor?? I talk to him and he says any treasure in my house is yours but I can't open them.

I think the chests can only be opened in CE/1.5

They can be opened in V1.4 as well, at least I've never had any problems with them. Mind you the only thing worth having IMO is the bracer, the rest of the items only have sale value by the time you reached this point in the game.
