Steve, I think I'm having the same problem when I ad the Shadow Stones.

I choose 0019, and say put 2 in the inventory.

It adds it, and all is well. I save it. Exit, reload my game and there's nothing there, yet when I go into the save editor again, It shows I have two shadow stones.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

As far as setting a repair value goes, just set both fields to some rediculous value like maybe 2000, then in game one field is lower. The low value is what both fields should be. So now you can exit, and in the editor, set the correct value for both fields.

Sorry George, I'm still stumped.. Not sure what you mean by repair value, 0019 is the number of the item..

That's not right. There's six different Shadow Stones, so each should have a different item code. There's definitely something amiss with the editor. The window I'm talking about is the Status, which has to be set at 04 so that ingame you don't have to I.D. the item. I tried adding all six with the editor and none showed up in the Keys section where they normally go when you pick them up.

Never the less, for now you'll have to hex edit your save and replace general inventory items with the following codes;

1300 - apparently this one doesn't exist, at least not in CE, so maybe the editor was based on this and the reason it doesn't show.
CD00 - blue, used frequently throughout the game and also in the star-shaped shadow lord room.
CF00 - orange, shadow lord room.
D000 - red, shadow lord room.
D100 - purple, shadow lord room.
D300 - yellow, shadow lord room.

Thanks for the info George!

I just finally got frustrated, put the Rod of Divinity in my belongings and got out of there! (but I did save another game so if I want to go back I can).

Now I just have to get past that Yogi guy in the Forbidden lands without my computer constantly locking up.. Last night it locked up while I was fighting him 3 times!

Can we say another glitch? lol

Thanks again!

Probably not a glitch. Once in a great while I'll experience a lockup, but never in the same place. When that happens, I know it's past time to defrag the hd!

I figured out the add items/special/shadow stone thing!

Down the list of special items there's 5 shadow stones in a row which are the ones in game. The trick is, when you select one, you also have to choose the correct item code. following is what the correct codes, in the code drop down window, are in order as listed;

blue, 0205 - remember, this one is used for some of the athena statues, for the chess board puzzle, AND for the Shadow Lord star-shaped room.
orange, 0207
red, 0208
purple, 0209
yellow, 0211

The way I discovered the above is if you didn't change the item code after selecting the shadow stone, it would always return 0019. 0019 (hex 1300) was probably a typo and it is the first of two shadow stones listed at the top of the special items list. It does not exist in CE and this is what is confusing some things concearning the Shadow Stones.

The second item code 0028 (1C00 hex), and the second shadow stone listed at top of special items list, is also a blue stone, I haven't actually found a use for this one in CE. So if the 0019 was removed from the item code list in the editor, the other shadow stone codes should automatically display for each respective stone just like the other special items correctly shows their item codes.

stuck in ulm lower level.

ok somehow the door entering the lever room got closed and now I cant get out. Ive used the editor to try and set a new location but every time i do i get the monster in space message. Ive tried deleting games and replaying that part and still get the monster in space message when i try to load a new location. anyone know how to get to a new location without that error? I've got to admit the one thing i dont like about dungeon lords is the 2 nasty bugs that ive now been a part of. The 1st was leaving the shadow realm before i was finished and now a frikking door closing behind me somehow and sticking me with no way out.

You can only change location with editor while outside. It is possible to change coordinates while inside by hex editing your save.

I've sent you a private message with an address where you can send your zipped save file.

I returned your hexed save.

By the way, if you went through the east gate, before getting into the room where you were trapped, you probably found the skull rod after pushing the wall button. If you had gone all the way around the hallway, you could have opened a gate to another area of the water. This is a failsafe, incase you do mess up in the lever room. All you would have had to do is swim around the water ways and through the failsafe gate back to the elevator.

Wow, this must have been the quietest release, yet. No comments or complaints in 10 days. Has anyone out there tried the update yet?
