Alter in the Vale of Ruins!

Hi everyone,
I'd like to know why when i put the vial of blood on the alter nothing happens. No messenger appears and talks to me and the quest log dosn't change. What do i do know? I have a feeling that this is a really important part of the game and i can't do anything about it!!!

Your helps much appreciated.

I am having the same problem. Saved just before I put Valdanes blood on the alter and have reloaded multiple times, but still no messenger. Any help would be appreciated.

Well i finally look around and i saw the messenger (succubus). She keeps getting stuck in the air and won't come to me. When I went to the dream catcher forums someone on there said just to wait and she would come down, but i waited and waited and reloaded and reloaded some more and it still keeps getting stuck. Anybody have similer problems or anybody out there actually get her to come down? i spent an hour trying different things and the bloody thing won't work! Help would be appreciated.

This is a MAJOR known bug. I have heard that if you have this problem that you want to get away from the trees so that the messenger doesn't get stuck. I hope that works and I'm glad you had the foresight to save your game.

Well Fordo1 i did indeed save my game. But the whole area is full of trees not to mention going through water is slow as hell. plus the succubus follows a scripted path. She won't land anywere else. I already tried getting closer to her, she just fly's right overhead.... I really hope they fix this in the patch because i've got knowere to go now I've done eevrything else

you have to leave the area, I mean go for a nice stroll thru the woods and then come back sometimes it takes a couple of times but keep trying, also I was able to take back the vial, and I wemt on a stroll came back tried it again and she came down, she dont come down fast but you'll see her. Hi Axis,

what worked for me was walking up to the succubus. This somehow made her come down. Otherwise I can only suggest restoring to a point before placing the blood and placing it on the altar from a different angle.

It is a well known bug

Finnally got the messenger to come down. I faced Northwest when I put the blood on the alter. Turned around and walked off the alter to the east. Then turned around and waited. A minute or two later the succubus came flying in from the west all the way to the alter and took the blood. I reloaded three times and it worked every time! Hope this helps anyone else having the same problem.

Thanks martmellow i tried what u suggested and it didnt work. Not until I faced the alter facing NW then walked backwards until i reached the edge of the plateform. then the messenger came straight down. Wo0t! thx for the help everyone.

Thx martmellow. I was located at the NW part of the alter and placed the vial. I run NW until I reached the hill. Then to the east. The thing came fast down and I got some small trouble (some soldiers), so that after I reached the alter again that thing was again flying away. But I could take the vial and place it again, so that it came straight back. Worked fine for me... but only at the second try. In the first I was waiting and looking where it would be in the sky. So perhaps just placing and then running is the best solution that it will work.

normaly, if you bypass the bug, where does the flying dude is suppose to land? on the altar?

It flies from the Northwestern to the Altar and flies then away again (if your not fast enough). I could not see it land, but it was flying very deep then

Yes, you should talk to him. Vartug? (the chief of skuldoon) gave you the order, to place the vial at the alter to bargain with someone, so you should talk with it.
If you do not talk with it, it will possible fly away and you have to take the vial and place it again on the alter.
It will tell you the word to get into the Tomb of Souls. Perhaps you can get the words from someone else too. I had the problem, that I got in my logs the quest which says the word to talk to get in... but I could not choose it. Now I haven't tried yet, because I am still in the vale of ruins running around (just killed the Deathlord for my deathlord quest) with my way to the north to the cabalist, or maybe entering the temple of draedoth.
